More of a Miles Davis man myself. But Coltrane is cool.
I can't get into jazz. Unironically, is my IQ too low? I can enjoy a lot of classical so I would have thought I'd be smart enough for jazz, but maybe not.
welcome on transition is a vibe https://youtu.be/jMKQSrAd0nM. what inspired him to create that? did he just get a new kid or something like that?
>>127733625listening to more of it helps. keep exploring until you find something that gets its hooks into you. are you good with languages? because its a language. a lot of coltranes language is pretty advanced but despite that its not too hard to appreciate a lot of his playing, he was a gifted communicator really. thats what i feel like the great jazz masters are
>>127733625There's a lot of accessible stuff out there, if you're diving into a lot of Blue Note classic albums that stuff is mainly hardbop and modal. Maybe swing or big band or bebop ballads would be better?
>>127733625Listen to Trane's My Favorite Things, the studio version. Or the Ballads albums. They're very accessible

>>127733625my favorite things is entry level jazz but is considered one of his best works for good reason. also borders on when he went full artfag, so you get just a tinge of weirdness in a good way
>>127733429amen brother
>>127733429Actually I think that at his best Sonny is better than John.Otherwise Coltrane's output is more consistent.
john coltrane
>>127736558good post. the piano on that album is very tranquil so it can be a great thing to focus on if the sax is too much>>127737940the bridge is my favorite sonny album, whats yours
