New fag here, I just discovered Metallica black album and am liking it. What Metallica should listen to next?
>>
MOP is perfect if you wanna get more into their 80s thrash shit. if you wanna continue with their 90s hard rock style i'd jump ahead to ReLoad and/or Garage Inc.

Thanks

listen to the albums that released before it and just listen to only those
>>
>>127735714
np, here i'll go further and recommend some songs
>Master Of Puppets
>The Thing That Should Not Be
>Sanitarium
>Fuel
>Devil's Dance
>The Unforgiven II
>It's Electric

The Black album is a masterpiece and their best work. Its so obviously good that metalfags have to hate it. Their first 3 albums and Hardwired to Self Destruct are worth listening to as well.
>>
>>127735685
horrible commercial pop-rock album, if you want "fun" pop-rock metal just listen to motley crue's debut which executes the idea much better
since you like that horrible album, just listen to all the stuff that came after it
the first 4 albums are actual thrash, something you wont like
>>
>>127735854
I'll skip motley crue, they are servants of satan.
>>
>>127735836
I agree, thanks
>>
>>127735936
lol stick to rock buddy youre not mentally strong enough to handle metal
>>
>>127735685
st anger which is equally bad
>>
prob Kill 'Em All
>>
>>127735965
thanks

Which Metallica songs have the easier solos? I've been playing guitar for a few years now but I'm still not good enough to play fast solos. So which songs would be best to progress through? For reference I've been trying to learn Fade to Black but I can only play the outro solos at like 60% speed. I tried Battery but it was waaaaaay too fast.

Stop listening to slop (keep enter sandman and file the rest of this album as filler to never hear again for the rest of your life), listen to lulu their only GREAT album when they were a backing band to an actually great artist. listen to and keep for whom the bell tolls, one (or a cover/alt version of it that isn't produced like garbage), fuel, st. anger title track (ignore low iq drum sheep meme), my apocalypse and all nightmare long from death magnetic (original LOUD versions), then never listen to the rest that is midtallica again outside of these selections, as everything else is not worth a repeated listen. your welcome.

Merciful fate, ideal for beginners

Master of Puppets

>servants of Satan

Oh, you don't know Black Metal yet, do you? Those bands make every other genre look like choir boys.

Anyway, I would strongly suggest Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets.

Why would you want to - Kirk sucks. his solos have no fire to them and are more akin to technical exercises than actual from-the-heart soloing. He realizes his natural tone's wimpy af which is why he relies on excessive EQ and the stupid wah wah pedal. You'd be better off downloading the backing tracks and coming up with your own solos - anything you could ad lib would be an improvement over his signature wheedly-deedly-wheedly-deedly-dee-dee-dee licks

One of the few replies actually helping OP find more of what he wants, without proselytizing about how better early Metallica was.
>>127735854
>the first 4 albums are actual thrash
Most of 80s Metallica is thrash metal in the way that mid-to-late Death is death metal: when you listen to other bands, it's kinda weak, if it even sounds like thrash/death still.
>>
>>127736506
Wherever I May Roam is easy and the wah pedal is very tasteful.

good argument against anthrax

It’s crazy how Metallica is STILL the gateway into metal music for young kids. I remember hearing Load for the first time in 96’ and the rest is history. They’re the biggest metal band ever, so I guess this still makes sense.
>>
>>127736506
Nothing else matters' solo is quite easy and not that long either.
Probably one of the first ones I learned as well.

Continue chronologically: "Load", "Reload", etc. Don't turn back to the albums before "Metallica" cause they're a completely different flavor of metal and if you liked "Metalllica" you won't like those. Not because they aren't good, mind you, those are generally regarded as their best and rightly so, but because you most likely won't be as into them. Ignore everyone and anyone who told you otherwise.

It's not impossible to like both. I do.

I do too, but OP is a fuKKKing newfag.

Generally with any band you wanna explore, you just listen to all their albums in order until they sound like theyre old and ran out of ideas

bullshit, TBA is the exact middle point of their career, soundwise. The Struggle Within and Through The Never are just as thrashy as MOP and Creeping Death. not saying they're as good mind you, but same level of speed and energy. i wouldn't recommend jumping right into Battery and Dyers Eve but generally the Black Album is the perfect middle ground between Load and their 80s albums.
>>
>>127741306
nah, i used to think this but too many bands have early albums before they really got good that'll turn you off. KEA is great but is pretty raw and underproduced. if you're not already a fan it could turn you off. just dip your toes in with their most acclaimed albums and even their most popular songs. you don't HAVE to start at the beginning
>>
>>127735685
what you should do is watch their old concert movies. Seatle 89, San Diego 92, and Cunning Stunts. better sound than the albums

Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
Kill 'em all
The Garage Days re-revisited EP is a lot of fun too

the rest of metallica's discography is pretty much wash/rinse/repeat after the black album.

Death Magnetic is a great album. Very similar to the Black album.
>>
>>127743669
no, but i'm arguing specifically that KEA could be an acquired taste because of how raw and unpolished the production and even some of the performances are. i think everyone pretty much agrees RTL and MOP were a huge step up in both those areas. and those are both still their early years.

Go in reverse order. Black Album, And Justice For All, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and then Kill Em All.
