Hi I have been playing bass for a year now and I am looking for a better one. I have a Harley Benton JB-75 and a HB-20B combo. I know that I want a jazz one but I am clueless about the amp and I am not sure if I should just get some pedals. If u guys have any recommendations let me know :D.
>>127740723Active PJ Bass bro. Or just a P-Bass too, but you get the best of all worlds with an active PJ. The first bass ever is still the best imo.
I tried the pj's and p some time ago and I dont know if it was my bad amp config but the tone at the end was weird. Maybe it was weird bc of me playing only the jazz one.
>>127740853They're not too far off really. It just has a J-Bass bridge for brighter tones.Stingrays are pretty badass too, if you want humbuckers. Some would say they're the actual best basses. It's still kind of Fender, since Leo himself designed it too.
>>127740723>playing bass for a yearjust get some shitty combo amp and go gig. you dont need anything actually good unless youre recording or playing big gigs. and in both cases, either the studio, or the ppl managing your tour should be able to hook it up.but just gig. thats how you git gud. thats how you learn everything.wont be hard to find a gig. everyone literally always needs a bassist. if you can sing backups too, youll literally never be unemployed. just do that for a while. youll figure out what you want to sound like, and learn what you need to sound that way. no one can rly tell you what you wanna sound like. you gotta figure that part out
>>127740723Your bass is alright, I'd rather spend the money on an audio interface if you want to record, if not then get a decent strap (believe me, a good strap goes a long way in comfort) and, for the amp, I suggest the legendary Fender Rumble 40, best amp for pretty much every bass player that isn't a millionaire. If you really want to switch basses, try getting a 24 fret one, those 3 more frets are really useful sometimes, though the distance between the first frets is going to be slightly longer, so keep that in mind. I personally like Cort's basses nowadays, they're nicely designed (unlike Fender's bs) and sound and feel great (unlike Ibanez's and, sometimes, ESP's)

>>127741924Also, as for the pedals, delay is like a two-for one combo, 'cause it can work as an effect (duh) and as a practice tool, sort of like a metronome as it helps you play in time with the delayed sound. Saturation and overdrive are other cool effects that you could get, and an octave effect is also pretty nice to have. If you want to get technical, an EQ is a must, but you must know a thing or two about how equalizers work to get it working right. Most brands are alright, though always check the reviews, usually Boss, Vox and MXR are the best, as far as I know. And don't forget that you can make your own effects with a circuit and other shit, DIY 'till death
Pro here:OP, get a 600 watt Carvin combo amp, and these pedals, a whammy, a ring modulator, overdrive, and chorus.have costumes in mind for when you try out for bands. make an impression
