is the rest of his discography worth checking out?
>>127764350Blood and choclate is a good album
He’s like Bruce Springsteen with his ability to write raucous songs that have entirely different phases to them. https://youtu.be/FO6CkCi1lo0
>>127764350Everything from his first 10 years is worth checking out. Skip the covers record, and the mid-80s stuff can get a bit naff, but he finishes strong with the one-two punch of Blood and Chocolate and King of America. I'd suggest listening in chronological order, and don't forget the outtakes. The definitive versions of his albums were all reissued on Edsel/Rhino in the early 2000s and cover all the essentials.
>>127764512>Skip the covers recordDon't listen to this anon. Almost Blue is fantastic.
>>127764350Get Happy is my favorite. Also his Debut is awesome. Both solid albums
>>127764554Fantastic? Really?
Imperial Bedrooms and Armed Forces are both god-tier
>>127764350>Music for neurotic music critics to vicariously live out their Rock star fantasies toHack.
>>127764900this
Yeah it’s worth checking out
>>127764350I listened because of Pump It Up and I was kind of disappointed, it's like 40 minutes of filler plus Pump It Up
His music lacks humanity. It's like AI produced pop songs. They are finely crafted and there's nothing you can say that is wrong with them, but they are completely soulless. He also focuses way too much on lyrics and clever wordplay which makes the music suffer.

>>127764915>>127765376>>127765904a circle of low IQs
>>127765904Alison lacks humanity? Red Shoes? I'm Not Angry? Radio Sweetheart? Stranger in the House? Poison Moon? That's just from around the first album.
>>127765904Do you even When I was Cruel? Are you AI generated my man? Radio Silence brings forth a plethora of emotions
>>127764350HEISAMASONICFREAK!
>>127764350I actually never listened to this album JUST because of the album cover. It's so gay.
Chelsea is about the Chelsea hotel and he's referring to some nasty stuff and sex slave mind control. I understand though, we have to live in a separate Israeli approved consensus which we can ignore these things, obsessed about which Cure album is better instead of some dumb crap......and then wonder why things are more fucked up years later. Maybe cos we ignore these things?Elvis Costello is a Masonic pedo freak
>>127764460My most interested part off the album, is the bit that the title and cover can be interpreted as a wink and nod reference to anal rape.
>>127770849Chelsea is a part of London you dumb schizo
>>127772264Water is wet. Chelsea is a hotel in New York that got weird EWS shit going on with it and is constantly referenced as well in other songs for having strange debauched shit with it. Also Costello is a Mason, and even that cover, his hand is doing the triangle shit w/ the camera (camera facing at you is also ocular symbolism like the pyramid eye etc.)The Shining was inspired somehow, you know? https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7covFYTq66YI5fh3OAp0FO?si=gQy1UC72TIWOhG_wPLlC4A&pi=AX7LLSIZSdCfD"This year's model" with the camera and the lyrics of it...Geez sometimes get to thinking, am I the only one in the world with a brain, or that cares to see these things that are directly in your face? These pedo monsters must laugh their asses off at you lot, do some brain quizzes or something.
Oh crap, I understand. Shit, I had a problem with pedophilic and deeply nasty suggestions in lyrics of songs and so on, I'm schizo and need to seek help bruh.>Someone hates on pedophile mafia>This elite mafia with music industry, hollywood ties and so on is now openly getting exposed finally in news literally today or whatever.>"Sounds like you're a schizo, need to seek help gang fr"Sure

Now try Joe Jackson.
>>127764350His first album is better, overall. I prefer the retro 50s vibe he was going for.
>>127764350This Year's Model really comes alive in the Autumn season as does Trust and Get Happy which are my two top records of his with the Attractions. I always thought of MAIT as a comfy year end record, it's the production which does it for me, that and it feels like an all or nothing record, which it was. But that run of albums leading up to Imperial (save for Almost Blue) is simply incredible, they get it back at King, the rest I haven't gotten into or discarded. Shipbuilding was boring. Blood & Chocolate I just never got into. Again I like the punch of the 1st 5, then Imperial BedInterest returned with the comeback album solo in name but with The Attractions christened as The Imposters, When I Was Cruel is definitely worth a listen, if you find the early work to your liking. It's sleazy and cold, return to 77' -81 Costello form, gotta nasty bite to it. But he's always been a miser, what with chasing after and roasting Bebe Buell. Proto incel-core, the smarmiest tongue in all of rock, pop, & rnb Deja Vu when I wrote this
Armed Forces, My Aim is True and Blood and Chocolate are the best ones besides TYM
>>127776916imperial bedroom and king of america are better than armed forces
>>127764350Personally I only really get off to My Aim Is True. It's a damn near perfect record in every way - until Watching The Detectives, anyway
>>127778096Crazy. That's one of the best songs on that record
Elvis Costello - Goon Squad
>>127764476He is like Bruce Springsteen, but only because they both make generic mediocre music.
>>127764350My Aim is True is the best of his that I have heard. The hired guns on that album were much better than the Attractions and I prefer the more Motown vibes of the album, it tempered his sperginess pretty well.
>>127774456GOT THE TIME TICK TICK TICKIN IN MY HEAD
>>127782589Anthrax did it better
>>127781839Listen to Imperial Bedroom or Blood & Chocolate. It's not generic at all, retard.
>>127782651both are amazing, joe jackson definitely invented thrash
>>127782469You just exposed yourself hard here, anonGet Happy!! Is the Motown album, no ifs, ands, or buts about it
>>127764350>is the rest of his discography worth checking out?no. his first 3 albums are musically similar. then starting in 1980 with get happy he starts to change his sound with each album. get happy was a motown inspired album and almost blue in 81 was a country album etc. my favorite album by him was king of america in 86 which i guess is just him being himself, nothing after 86 is worth listening to i see it all the time at goodwill but never even bother buying it
>>127781804Goon was a great word once, it's sad that cumbrains had to commandeer it just so they could have a superfluous new term for edging.
According to Elvis Costello, Ray Charles is a "blind ignorant nigger” and James Brown “a jive-ass nigger”. That's some harsh things to say I guess...
>>127784554There's some truth in what he said, both of those musicians were coasting, albeit it's the condition and in the way that he said it, drunk as a fool saying what's on his mind mistakenly thinking he was surrounded by a bunch of Irish niggers taking the pissCostello had an ego like a planet, he got checked for what he said and what resulted was one of the greatest apology tours in that the music as an ohmage spoke for entirely for itself more so than any open apology written half hearted through a letter nevermind a twitter apology, in this case, we got a full humility record with Elvis even trying to best his detractors and formulate his apology as on his own terms. That's how you do it brehs that is indeed how you do it brehskies saving face and doing it on your own termshttps://youtu.be/3JQMyUWGyxE?list=RD3JQMyUWGyxE
>>127784496While it's true that EC gets spotty as time goes on, the 1997 Warner comp Extreme Honey is fantastic and well worth picking up for a quid/buck/drachma.
>>127784554Get Happy!! Apology below offended niggers deal with itThis is how you do it, Montell Jordan*game winning shot over Bowen, swish*https://youtu.be/4rKsKAU3fIo
>>127785222oops-a-daisy, shit wrong album, not that it matters but I'm drunk btw, lol lmao even a TRUST referencehttps://youtu.be/3JQMyUWGyxE
>Calling Mister Oswald with the swastika tattoo~>There is a vacancy waiting in the->STOP! STOP!>I'm sorry ladies and gentlemen, there's no reason to do this song here>Radio, RadioGoes on to play the best fucking caffinated version of Radio, Radio ever recordedWhat a fucking legend.
>>127785967pretty nuts that those opening lyrics once appeared in an episode of SNL. wouldn't happen today (but then again, who writes like EC in 2025?)but i have to wonder why less than zero was picked. it's not a showstopper and it wasn't a US single (whereas alison arguably is, and had a unique overseas 7" mix), and as he says it must've been incomprehensible to americans. surely there was some process involved since they got butthurt when he swapped it out. some 4D chess shit
>>127764350everything through Get Happy is great, without exception.
>>127783757lol, you must be one generic motherfucker to think these aren't generic.
>>127786153you didn't even listen to them, homo
Elvis Is King
>>127783757>Imperial BedroomNTA.That's a cool one. Good late-night listen.I kinda assumed that EC is not worth listening beyond Get Happy. I guess I was very wrong.
>>127764350decent? DECENT? you don't deserve elvis costello
>>127783806It's alright but it sounds a little coked-out. And anyway Clover was the better backing band.
Armed ForcesGet Happy!
>>127786058>wouldn't happen todayYeah, definitely.>alisonIIRC Elvis himself didn't want to play it for the Americans because playing it was "being too easy on them" and it was his most popular song in the US, so, being an angwwy contrarian, he just wouldn't play it. Although, as far as I know, it was Columbia who picked the songs for the SNL appearance, so yeah. Definitely some weird 4D chess shit going on there.
