fyi new TayTay album means she'll officially become the best selling female artist ever next weekMadonna 243mTaylor Swift 240mCéline Dion 196mMariah Carey 190mWhitney Houston 159mBarbra Streisand 152mRihanna 119mBritney Spears 117mAdele 111mBeyoncé 100mLady Gaga 92mEnya 91mAriana Grande 90mShakira 87mAretha Franklin 82mShania Twain 82mP!nk 80mJanet Jackson 76mKaty Perry 71mTina Turner 71m(Billie Eilish 70m)
Her most impressive achievement is becoming so popular and selling so many albums despite having no discernible talent. Music historians will be baffled by this phenomenon for ages to come.
>>127837090All according to plan
>>127837090I’ve already preordered all versions and can’t wait to wear the orange cardigan
She's the Avatar of music. Zero cultural impact.
>>127837090
just heard the album, the entire album is basically about growing up in the music industry...I would compare the album to Madonna's American Life album due to similar themes...Fate of Ophelia- the tragedy of ending up alone in this industryElizabeth Taylor- thinking you’ve found the one but the industry often makes them wither awayFather figure- taking advantage of by someone you bring under your wing in the industryActually romantic- how haters in the industry affect youWish list- all the superficial things people in the industry strive forCancelled- cancel culture in the industry and how it affects not only the star but the people around herHoney- how people in the industry use the endearment honey as an insultTLOAS- a warning and acceptance of the life that she choose
>>127837090they changed the way they count sales. so none of these current day artists with huge numbers are even actual physical sales
it's probably going to be her most controversial album.. she talks about liking her friends canceled, there's a whole song about her boyfriend's dick, lyrics about how she has a big dick in father figure, a song saying she doesn't want expensive things from her boyfriend, and also a diss track allegedly about Charli, to the funny lyrics of the title track.... these songs are gong to cause a lot of discourse...
"When I found you, you were young, wayward, lost in the coldPulled up to you in the jag, turned your rags into goldYou remind me of a younger me. I saw potential. I'll be your father figure.I drink that brown liquor, I can make deals with the devil. Cause my dick's bigger."
>>127839135sounds a bit like Ariana grande's last album too which max martin worked on
>>127839135>thinking you’ve found the one but the industry often makes them wither awayMan, she's STILL obsessed with Matty Healy. His dick game must be on point.
>>127839171>these songs are gong to cause a lot of discourse...amongst gay guys and fat chicks
>>127838911I was gonna say that I think it's weird how Taylor is so popular when I only know like 4 of her songsBut then I realized I really only know like 4 Madonna songs too. I just don't think you and I are the demographic for this type of music anon, doesn't mean they have no cultural impact.
Who is she ripping off this time round?
>>127839484Sabrina Carpenter mostly, who in turn is just ripping off Britney, who in turn was just ripping off Madonna, who was probably the last American pop starlet who actually had her own image and sound.
I guarantee her next album will sell less than 3m copies.
>>127837090>Enya 91mwho listened to this shit?
>>127842310Enya is a musical goddess
>>127839540last one did 15m so probably not, her lowest one (Evermore) is at 10m
>>127839506>Madonna invented sex
what “sound” are we expecting for this album? im genuinely curious. This is supposedly another “1989”- undeniable, dancey, pop bangers. But where else could pop go from here? And what does a “showgirl” sound/aesthetic even sound like? This is the first time ive felt excited for a taylor release. Its pretty slim at 12 tracks so its evident she has a clear and concise message. Unlike TTPD which felt like “heres 50 songs, YOU figure it out and YOU decipher it”. im so intrigued
>>127839135>Father figure- taking advantage of by someone you bring under your wing in the industryMaybe Ed Sheeran ? He was on her red tour , probably pumped and dumped one of her friends.
>>127837123Her mediocrity resonates with the masses.
>>127842572>And what does a “showgirl” sound/aesthetic even sound like?you tell me
>>127837123She's literally the only artist in this list with an album written mostly by her (even Enya had a lyricist), surely that qualifies as "talent"?
>>127837090discounting streams how much does that translate into physical album sales?
>>127842310>Enya 91m>>127837090>Ariana Grande 90mwho listens to that shit? According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she has sold over 138 million units, across albums, singles, and features (when physical, downloads and streaming equivalent sales are combined), and 13 million albums and 107 million digital singles units as a lead artist. In the U.S., Grande has moved 22.4 million album units and garnered over 23.6 billion streams across lead artist credits, according to Luminate. Having amassed over 105 billion consumed streams thus far, Grande is the most streamed female artist ever.none of that makes sense to me, when you look at actually album sales nobody buys her music

>>127837090Great. Don't give a fuck and means nothing. The secret government has stolen trillions of dollars and developed time travel technology and mind controls the masses on a daily basis. You're a fucking faggot.
>>127842939just remove recent artists I guess (people stopped buying albums 20 years ago)
>>127843593>time travel technologyholy based, how do I get into this secret government?
>>127839160They need to go back and count radio spins for older tracks for it to be fair.
>>127839484>My favorite artists are 100% original
>>127839058>that stiff bodied fallnot a stunt double
>>1278460391,500 streams (combining all songs, so 150 streams for a 10-song album) = 1 sale, how many times do you think people were listening to albums they bought?
>>127847481How many times did they play Thriller on the radio per day.
>>127847561about the same they would today I guess (with globalization, population increase...etc), radio peaked in the 2000s but it's still a thing
