Reminder that I broke this thread's hymen. I took it’s virginity. Anyone else who posts after me is getting my sloppy seconds, my leftovers.

Just remember that the first reply is the most special reply and you'll never experience this thread the way I did and this thread will never feel the way it felt about me about you.

It's over, you might as well just go post on IncelTears and talk about how much of a "man" you are for replying on a thread that I pump and dumped. Have fun with my scraps, cucks

Went on sweetwater, seached a random PRS custom and got this. Sweetwater, just sweetwater has 3 of these. Granted sweetwater is a larger dealer than most, but I guarantee you, 20% of the larger guitar shops over the continent have one of these 'customs'. Far from exclusive and worse than that, low effort
When you manufacture something in those numbers, even the experienced luthiers are on autopilot mode. I can guarantee you that, regardless of whose signature is under the pickguard of whereever they put it
Watch this video from a sloptuber, a $700 tele was in the same pile as a $20000 custom. Guy finally picks a $2000 guitar and the only reason the tele gets disqualified is he didn't want a tele. IT GOT DQ'D CAUSE OF IT'S BODY SHAPE AND NOT ITS SOUND. DON'T FALL FOR THE CUSTOM SHOP J**

I learned on 11s and haven't tried 9s or 10s. I'm starting to think that I shouldn't keep swapping to 11s as soon as I get a guitar. It just worked out really well with the Epiphone ES-335 Pro and Fender Jaguar I used to own, but I'm thinkin' of trying something new.

I think we're all only can play riffs or intros types of guys because unless you're trying to cover the song for a set you kind of lose interest. Like who is going to learn sweet home alabama from front to back unless you're doing it to play it live.

Why do guitarists insist on sitting in the frequency range of the bass and kick? Your frequency is mid range with the singer and maybe the keys stay the fuck out of the bass section. The first thing the sound engineer is going to do to your tone is cut all that low end out so the bass can come through.

When I think I have to concentrate and not fuck it up I always fuck up. My hands and fingers start having a seizure and I can only watch. Even when I'm handwriting or playing guitar. I can't control it, the pressure is too high. Am I genuinely acoustic?

PLEASE SEND HELP.

>>
>>127848867
Beat to hell advice but don't start learning guitar with songs, start with exercises. You don't have the finger strength, independence and coordination to learn songs out the gate and you'll just frustrate yourself, as you're doing now
Do the grunt work now so everything will be easier later
>>
>>127848900
Man, I was doing it in school for years with handrwitings. Started slowly: one letter, another one - it didn't help in the end. I still can have a finger seizure when I feel the pressure. It's not that simple.
Same happens with my guitar, when I think "it's recording", or "what if someone were listening" or "it's going good I shouldn't fuck up" - I always fuck up.
>>
>>127848946
you should try playing in open tuning
>>
>>127848800
cheers keep on rocking in the free world dude
>>
>>127848867
Work on your dynamics and relaxing, you shouldn't need to press hard on the frets if you have your action set right. I can almost hear you white knuckling the frets and strangling the notes. I can give you some exercise ideas for dynamics.
>>
>>127848954
Playing what exactly? I can give it another try and start with basics if it's any difirent from what I've been doing before
>>
>>127848987
Please do.
>>
>>127848993
And if I don't?
>>
>>127848993
Your upstroke should have the same velocity as your downstroke. Dynamics is pretty easy when you break it down, its just more or less wrist into the strum essentially you want to play through and before the string for your maximum pick velocity but it sounds like you already know this one.
and for quiet volume feather the pick loosen your grip and minimize movements.
then try just playing one note at every possible volume, then try to highlight notes with more volume something like this.
https://voca.ro/1dkBWGu4CvZO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c58ppLPJcQ

Famously Brian Maye plays with a feather light touch but he uses a heavy coin to pick with so it gives his attack and dynamic that signature sound.
>>
>>127849066
Idk man, I'll try to learn another intro or solo, give up, and think I should've bought a synth instead but I won't buy it becase I'm afraid things will be the same
>>
>>127849106
What if I can't hear notes is it over for me? I know some people can play a song by ear. I can't.
>>
>>127849106
so for the song you are playing in particular the common dynamic is strong weak weak strong if that makes sense.
>>
>>127849111
This response is an example of not changing dynamics, yeah? Dynamics exist without choice. Every sound is louder or more quite than any other. So, that means when people say "dynamics", they mean In a chosen way. So, if someone practices very hard on having no dynamics, isn't that dynamics? John Cage would ask if dynamics exist without sound.
>>

when they hit “Don’t Stop Believin’,” I swear the arena levitated, like not metaphorically, I felt us lift a couple inches off the concrete. People talk about mass hysteria, but this was mass enlightenment with beer foam and Bic lighters.
By the time the encore rolled around, my senses were fried like an overcooked egg. My ears were ringing, my eyes were watering, my skin felt like it was vibrating at the frequency of the universe itself. When they walked off stage, I didn’t know who I was anymore. I wasn’t me And the kicker? The guy next to me, the mullet prophet, he looks me dead in the eye and says, “Man… that was pretty good.” PRETTY GOOD?! That was the beginning and end of time condensed into a 2-hour setlist, and this guy’s acting like he just ate an okay sandwich.

Anyway, long story short, I still taste the fog machine juice in the back of my throat sometimes, and whenever I hear “Open Arms,” I have to sit down before I collapse into pure nostalgia vapor.

12 years beginner m8 get a good teacher. Someone who will teach you good foundations and undo your bad habits and eventually lead you on to the music you want to play. A face to face teacher will see what you are doing wrong, or maybe even see that there is something wrong with the guitar which you won't get over the internet. IMHO video lessons are only worth it once you're at least intermediate and trying to get into the idiosyncrasies of what your teacher is an expert at.
There are brilliant guitarist that are self taught (Govan), and some have received tutelage (Vai, Satriani) but they all were unable to play an F chord once upon a time. You can do it m8, just get a good tutor to show you the way.

It's 3k because cost + labor of making a tube amp + profits to keep the company afloat. Your free software may come very close but it can't perfectly replicate the non-linear parts of the amp, and it for sure can't replicate the actual feel of the amp in the room.

I like to think about it in other way around. Many people can play guitar better than me, but they're also suck in life as well. Guitar can't really help you in life, many guitar players are poor. Many regret ever learning it. Many have to sing on the streets for a living.

The greatest guitar player of ouf generation The Doo became famouse because of shits and giggles on YT, not because of how great he is with guitar.

Guitar is an old instrument, people needed it back in the days so they could always have some music with them, today we call it a phone.

The final milestone of your guitar journey is realising what sounds incredible is in fact piss easy to play. It's a double-edged sword because you'll be able to play almost about anything and feel as though you're just not good.
Recording yourself regularly helps with a feeling of self-confidence if you have no one to give you feedback.

I found this for transcribing too. I spent forever learning Dogs by Pink Floyd and worked out the chords in standard, only to find out it’s dropped a whole step and you can finger most chords without the open strings.

Same deal with bass. Is Bassically just E pentatonic with one F bend thrown in. It couldn’t be that simple, could it?
>also see You Can Call Me All

>also tapping solo in Megadeth’s “Take No Prisoners”
I just tuned the G string to F# and it’s the easiest thing life that Ellefson never gets right in concert. At least they were live..

>>
>>127852092
Yeah high gain amp usually but tweaked with pedals to give a personnal edge, unless you have an absolutely incredible pedal that you need to use.
>>127852291
Mmmmhm sometimes songs have alternate tunings but in the case of Megadeth I assume he's just fucking wanking it and jorqing it And I mean actually musicians use several instruments so it's also possible there are alternate tunings.
I listen to a fuckload of Razor and was shocked when I realised they were tuned several steps down playing straight up mongoloid thrash, and even more shocked when I figured they use different tunings throughout the albums. Making playing by ear just a chore, I don't want 3 different guitars to have stupid fun.
So instead I play mostly ever play what's on my mind, and I suffer from impostor syndrome.

>>
>>127852322
>So instead I play mostly ever play what's on my mind, and I suffer from impostor syndrome.
I know what you mean but I’ve played with world-class musicians (my friends growing up and from touring), and you can start to hear mistakes and shit. Like Iommi’s pick makes an insane chirping sound that can bug you out (see Symptom of the Universe).

As a musician for 30+ years, I just enjoy being able to sculpt sound as I see fit. I prefer busking for this reason. I usually pick a town square and just jam. People stop by and chill - I used to do Gratefuo Dead tunes and Fahey-esque stuff. The best is the hypnotic stuff, where I can do James Blackshaw stuff and help people in like a music therapy way. I once had this dude request me tune after tune to keep him from copping heroin until the methadine clinic opened up. Another time, a car saleswoman chatted up about her day and seduced me. Or, some low IQ seeetheart of a dude would want to sing Steelheart songs (big in NH). When you can do all that, learning Django solos note for note tends to take a backseat.
>sad they took out benches and gazebos in Keene, NH)
>>

The musc goes on and on and then there's that high fucking CLINK out of noewhere like if someone dropped a fork, this awful odd sound louder and higher than everything else it's so ugly I fucking hate it so much. You can Nick Drake roll everything all the way off. There are heavy styles that stay down and distorted.

Keyboard is going to give you access to production and midi. It's not as "sexy" of an instrument, but you're not infinitely struggling with the strings doing things you don't like and trying to accomplish the world putting your fingers in knots. Playing stuff you don't know is the key to always suck on any instrument.

Go to open mics. This is where serious musicians network and share resources. You basically make a name for yourself. Tip the bartenders well, be good, be supportive even when people bomb, and these people will help you.

I joined a band that played CBGBs and L’Amour Rocks that I met at an open mic. We jammed for a few weeks and they had a 5 song setlist. We sucked but still went through the motions until the drummer quit.

After that, busking was a way to prove myself and I’d do that right after an open mic (I’d be drunk and amped up). Once you take life by the horns this way, it’s easy to do the next steps. In fact, busking is 10x harder than gigging, so when you play a proper gig, it feels like “that’s it?”

I wouldn’t recommend touring, as Walmart doesn’t have overnight parking as common as it used to.

The best gigs are small stakes. Believe it or not, old folks homes can be made into a “circuit”. Same deal with libraries and town centers. I accidentally played at Gloucester, MA’s street fair. Farmers Markets are also a good option and lots of hot bitches everywhere.

The new switch I ordered fits the control plate, so I don't have to modify the control plate. It moves finicky, not as solidly as the CLR 3-way, which didn't fit the control plate. I freed the pickup, ground and jack wires and prepared it for the new wiring. I am worried that I trimmed the pickup's wire too much and that it won't reach the pots and switch. Extending it would be an option, but I don't think I will make it look aesthetic.
The new pots should arrive tomorrow. I'm only replacing them because I fear I might have damaged the old ones from all the soldering work (I couldn't touch them, that's how hot they got). I just hope the new pots fit.

I hate waiting so long for the ordered parts to arrive. Every time I fuck something up, I have to wait 3 days to continue working on it. I also had to trim the strings while working on it. Now I have to restring it once I'm done.
This is the first time that working on the guitar felt like a chore and not "fun hobby time". Maybe it's because it's my only electric and I haven't been able to play for 2 weeks now.
