It was too poppy and singles-driven, the albums themselves aren't very memorable. This is why nu-metal got a nostalgia wave and glam/hair metal didn't, nu-metal was still somewhat album-focused. Listening to an entire Korn or Deftones album is acceptable, with 80s hair metal you're largely limited to greatest hits or compilation albums.
