your chart is good but it doesn't have any albums the bots will recognize so this thread is basically dead. sorry anon

Holy shit, the only thing I recognize in there, is Agata Kristi... I'll take a quick look, just to make sure I'm not missing anything.

You have a really cool genuine taste in music besides the tranime shit. Saving it to my collection. 9/10

Oh, you've got some nice taste. That Colin Newman album rules and is so underloved.

If you haven't done all of 60s and 70s Miles Davis, you're missing out big time, but I'll also throw some wild cards:
- Brainiac - Hissing Prigs in Static Couture
- Minimal Man - The Shroud of...
- Modern English - Mesh and Lace
--Loveliescrushing - Bloweyelashwish

Pic related are some of my favorites. I've been in a classic rock bend lately but I really need some super catchy pop/electronic, that or something like Relaxin' with Miles Davis Quintet. Anything, really. I'm loving that new Tame Impala song as well

How is that Jeff Parker record? I remember hearing about it when it came out but never listened to it

havent heard them yet, i have a backlog with some japanese shit i need to listen to (such as bis kaidan, hijokaidan, jenny01, some albums by tokyo shoegazer and hanatarash) so ill gladly let this group in there as well. weird you dont like manduka but thats fine; that album is very relaxing for me. i like the overall range here, from the k-pop ive never heard (too much out there) and even frank zappa. you're unique, and i think thats cool. try out:
leehyunjun - lost in translation (in my chart, also possible you've heard it already)
elend - wind devouring men (also on my chart)
>>127891436
thank you, i appreciate your high rating. i also really like yours; great range from the sonic youth self titled (fantastic pick), sftb, the ever-so wonderful and one of the greatest albums of all time (spleen and ideal), the underrated livonia and a-z (absolutely awesome picks) and the classic black celebration. i also understand your point on the anime covers thing, as i also dont like too much modern music that uses anime-esque art to give attention to the music; however, when it shoots, it scores (see chocolate hearts and stag beetles by aero gros m for a great satire of this shitty trend). try out:
michael gira/dan matz - what we did
nightingale - breathing shadow
kiss the anus of a black cat - if the sky falls
david sylvian/holger czukay - plight & premonition / flux and mutability
camouflage - voices and image
>>127891513

miya has made some of the greatest music under their name and the evaboy alias; everything they've made i have love and even if the chronically online undertones are there, they always have an addictive and sweet approach to their music that i adore. and fuck yeah man, that 0k2 is one of my favorite songs.

i havent heard acid mother temple but they seem like the japanese bull of heaven, tons of fucking releases (most of them long) and tons of rabbit holes to jump through. otherwise, ill get to them eventually.
>>127892936
>strange reccs
sometimes man, art has to look weird in order for the true consumers to enjoy it.
>>127894788
i definitely can tell you lean towards nostalgic sounds a lot, from 90s releases and projects that serve as "revivals" of 80s-90s sounds (drab majesty, john maus, luxury elite in your case, which are all great), liking the sludgefest album on my chart, and an admiration for george clanton (dont we all?). also ADORE that koopsta knicca album. try out:
andy oppenheimer - new mexico
linea aspera - self titled
jak3/trashman - hellworld area matrix
lil sko - u know tha sko
the wytches - annabel dream reader (on my chart, and i also encourage to watch the music videos for the songs on this album)
hymie's basement - self titled
dolorio y los tutantes - ...esas mutancias
>>127895886
you are BEYOND autistic and worth saving. what am i supposed to give you? the serial experiments lain, yume nikki and VVVVVV soundtracks? the united states of america album? subliminal plastic motives? i dont like the combination of someone who likes both metal and video game soundtracks, thats the biggest red(dit) flag out of anyone.
>>127896048
+ bone machine
try out live through this by hole, rite of spring by jajatao and subliminal plastic motives by self for some good grunge (although avoid the latter if you're looking for a purely grunge sound).
>>
>>127896048
+++Kyuss, Black Sabbath

Alice in Chains is pretty much just a classic heavy metal band with a sludgy edge and a fair share of softer moments, I think you could enjoy them. You'll probably like Soundgarden the most though, they are pretty stoner rock-adjacent.

>i'm trying to explore grunge but don't know where to start
I (>>127894788) did a deep dive a while ago, I listened to the top 50 grunge albums on rym. Grunge is pretty diverse and just generally describes a movement from the pacific northwest rather than a really distinct sound, though there are some common sonic and stylistic elements. This is why Stone Temple Pilots had a Monkees-type situation, garnering a reputation of not being le true grunge.
Outfits like pitchfork even call Melvins grunge funny enough, because they were around Seattle, but they are more sludge imo.
Think of grunge as the movement of eschewing the stylings of hair metal (which Alice in Chains, formerly Alice N' Chains hailed from. pic related) and laying the foundation for butt rock and formal 90s alternative.
All that autism aside, I'd just generally take the big singles from each artist and only dig down if you like them. The singles, with a few exceptions, are going to generally be the best any given act has to offer.
Seeing your chart I'd rec:
God's Balls - TAD
Badmotorfinger - Soundgarden
Bleach - Nirvana
Gish - Smashing Pumpkins
<below might be hit or miss>
As Good as Dead - Local H
Apple - Mother Love Bone (early so has hair metal sound)
Any Screaming Trees' middle work (Early stuff is really lofi, and Dust is like 60s revival polished 90s alt. Still good though but prolly not what you're looking for)
Alice in Chains (Start with the singles, their eras have relatively distinct sounds)
<below is shill tier because I love them too much to not rec>
Shame - Brad
Dayglo - Love Battery

I could keep going but I don't want to bury you.
