I never listened to them, is pic rel really that good or people just praise it for the first track alone?
>>
>>127895851
Yeah the rest is shit
>>
>>127895858
Don't listen to this fag, it's a great record through and through.

Hold On Magnolia > Farewell Transmission

this

>first track alone, first track alone
Is ANY album worth just the first track alone? Seems unlikely.
>>
>>127895851
Listen to it and then listen to the demos
>>
>>127895851
It's their only album of theirs that I like. Lioness wasn't bad tho, just not for me.
>>
>>127895851
Are you joking with this question? You definitely have an hour to spare to actually listen to it you stupid fucking idiot
>>
Almost Was Good Enough is their best song
>>

I found out last year that this simple fact was polemical on /mu/, so I will state it to teach tasteless cunts a lesson:
>the guest vocalist tracks are not the worst tracks
>>
>>127896512
Hold on magnolia is repetitive as shit
Whip poor will (demo) and just be simple (both) are the actual best
>>
Anyone here like Greg Freeman?
Hes definitely a little derivative of Jason but he's the only other artist I've found that scratches that itch. Mj lenderman is alright but I dont really get the comparison
>>

Spotify keeps shilling him to me so I added a record but haven't listened to it yet. Pretty sure I'll dig it.

Have you heard the other albums under the Magnolia Electric Co. name?
>>
>>127897361
Yes. They weren't good :(

Please give pic related a spin, it's his best work.

If that's true I guess I shouldn't try more with his other albums. Magnolia Electric is the only one that keeps growing on me. I get the cool soundscapes on the one you posted and the songwriter kind of appeal, but just doesn't resonate with me at all. There's something huge about Magnolia Electric, it might be the production, the more melodic type of songs or just that it hits more emotionally to my core than the rest of his stuff.
>>

the music sucks unless you’re going through it
>>
>>127898102
You're better checking out the other stuff done under the Magnolia Electric Co moniker like What Comes After the Blues and Fading Trails which has more of that rock feel where the other Songs Ohia stuff leans in a more slowcore/folk direction.
>>
>>127898441
I listened to What Comes After the Blues and it felt kinda watered down compared to the s/t. Fading Trails sounds already better and I just started with it, however the s/t is his only worth buying album in my view.

Fair, it’s nice that you at least gave it a fair shot.
