Not in terms of their ability, but just the raw sonics are so fucking bad. Loud, grating, unbalanced, etc. I love J and consider him one of the greatest living guitar players. I even don't mind his husky voice from time to time, but they were never going to reach Nirvana status without the god-tier vocals. They also just didn't write as strong of songs any way you slice it.
