Recs for albums like 68-73 Stones? I have heard The Band, CCR and Layla and they come close, anything else?
Black Crowes made their entire career ripping off the stones as much as possible
>>127922632Ah yeah, I heard them too. I like them for what they are. Underrated band these days I think even though they were pretty big in the 90s
>>127922609Early Neil Young and 70s Aerosmith maybe.
Some may disagree, but honestly… Electric Warrior and The Slider.
>>127922955I do love T. Rex but I wouldn't say they're very Stonesy
>>127922609If the Dolls were like the early Stones, the Heartbreakers were the nastier Taylor period Stones.
>>127922609Flamin' Groovies
>>127924123Good call. They actually kind of capture their unusual groove.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU91FmqJZ6w
>>127922609New York Dolls
>>127922609Why is Salt of the Earth not unanimously considered the best song from this?
Go for the classic southern rock bands, there are many of them and they were all into the same type of rock vibe.
>>127925224the problem with many of these bands is that they let up large swaths of space for the guitarist to jerk off, or devolve into entire album sides of tedious jamming. the stones never lost track of the song
>>127925212coz Sympathy for the Devil and Jigsaw Puzzle are at least its equals
>>127922609Little Feet are fantastic
70s Dwight Twiley band is kinda Stonesy

Half of Primal Scream's discography is pure Stones worship. Give Out But Don't Give Up is pretty underrated, quality rock'n'roll mixed with some deep funk grooves with some tracks produced by George Clinton. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYd82DHP4ls&list=OLAK5uy_k8aJkG72GX-hAt7oboOommh4LeUvtjluQ&index=2
