I have been browsing 4chan for a very long time, over a decade, but I have never visited or browsed /mu/. I really want to get into music and have a music taste. In a desperate attempt to fit in, I listened through all the tracks in this playlist:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6bsJy0isL1OkpTlun3P5Zo?si=4dfc8468e4fb48ef
Some songs I really liked from this playlist are:
>Madvillain - Accordion
>Kyuss - Demon Cleaner
>Aphex Twin - 4
>Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
>Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
>Justice - Stress
>Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs
>Joni Mitchell - All I Want
>The Pharcycle - Passin' Me By
and also some others

Joanna Newsome - Have One On Me

>I have never visited or browsed /mu/.
You have joined at the worst time. Maybe you can buy the dip.
>I really want to get into music and have a music taste.
Is there a reason for this change? What were you listening to before you tried the playlist?
>In a desperate attempt to fit in, I listened through all the tracks in this playlist
It's a good start, but keep in mind /mu/core is a collection of frequently posted albums during /mu/'s early years, which were a different and specific time and place. Treat it as pointers to get your foot in the door to various genres. /mu/core lists will miss music you'd love and insist on music you won't care for.

And if you don't already, don't be afraid to listen to full albums (or EPs). Most albums aren't concept albums, but artists will spread a variety of musical ideas across an album, write the songs with a common theme, or write and order songs to flow in a specific way.

The 3x3/5×5 threads are the best place to find music at this point. Start with the songs you liked, listen to the albums, put them in a topster, and look for people with similar taste.

>I really want to get into music and have a music taste.
Listen to Bach (As in, genuinely listen and learn about the different forms he composed in), then move to the music of his sons (Namely JC and CPE) and Haydn, then move to other classical period composers like Mozart, Hummel, Dussek, etc and eventually to the romantic period.

That is the simple way to get a genuine music taste of some sort, but if your intent is to just fit in with /mu/tards: Listen to /mu/core once and then whine about zoomers day in day out, maybe mention a random album and ask "Why do zoomers hate this album?" (They don't actually hate it and you made it up, but retards will still respond as if it is objective truth). Then maybe post a irrelevant time wasting thread about a female musician so people will post sexually provocative images of them. Make sure to never actually discuss music and dissuade anyone from ever saying anything that could even be remotely interpreted as talking about music theory because that is bad or something. And if you still have time left after that, make a copy of one of the numerous daily meme shitpost threads like "Neighbour is blasting bon jovi again" which will certainly make the\ inbred retards that make up this board laugh and clap like they have the 2 million times before that this has been posted. Congrats, you're now a /mu/tard and can fit in.

I've thought for a bit about your case. I think you should Listen to Relationship of Command by At the Drive In. If you like it then this will open up more possibilities.

>Is there a reason for this change?
I wanted to be pretentious without being superficial.
>That doesn't make any sense
exactly
>What were you listening to before you tried the playlist?
Anime shit. Aside from that I'm particularly fond of Yakushimaru Etsuko (and Sotaisei Riron), MASS OF FERMENTING DREGS, 9mm Parabellum Bullet, and Jethro Tull.

Try the early Pink Floyd singles for some nice psych pop/rock. There should be a compilation of them on soulseek so you don't have to hunt each one individually.
