>>127946154Meme tier music. Toothless "rock" product for internet obsessed cretins. More indie drivel by and for dilettantes. And to add insult to injury, these fags are a bunch of nepotists as well. Shocker! Automatically discarded. NEXT.

It's a very nice album, what's not to like? Some of you are too hateful
>>127946154COOOOOOOOBRA IN MY HANDSHE'S CALLING BACK AGAIN
>>127946406I can't remember the last time /MU/ was positive about an album release.
>>127946154In case you were wondering why none of the songs are memorable, it's because these guys aren't good at coming up with actual melodies, which is par for the course in indie music. They pile on and layer a bunch of sounds on top of each other to bewilder the listener and really to distract you from this fact.
>>127946331...but anyway, that's enough about Animal Collective.
fundie artist
>>127946406The music is mediocre, nothing special. The singing is ridiculous. So bad, it's baffling he doesn't get laughed off every stage.
>>127946451What are you talking about? Apart from the opening track, this album is really accessible and melodic
It's also why artists and listeners of this type of music typically want you to dislike things like "dad rock" and label certain music as passé, so that they can more easily get away from the fact they aren't able to come up with hooks or riffs or licks that are going to stick with you long after the album has ended. its about lowering standards to hustlers like this can more easily elbow their way into the pantheon of great rock music without actually having the capabilities or know-how of the musicians of past. I question the taste and sensibilities of people who think shit like this deserves to be labeled as great, and same with other similar garbage like squid, bcnr, black midi, etc.
>>127946481standards so*
>>127946481Black Midi isn't similar to Geese, whether you think they're garbage or not.
>>127946481I can tell you never picked up a guitar before.
>>127946481Geese is incredibly indebted to 'dad rock'. You're a cock-gobbling retard

>After high school, he applied to Boston University with the intention of pursuing a degree in communications but ultimately chose to forgo college and pursue music as a career, along with his Geese bandmates, after signing with Partisan Records in 2020.>Winter's voice has been praised for its range and versatility. Describing Winter's vocals on Projector, Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone said that Winter "can hoist his voice into a Thom Yorke-an falsetto, put on a posh pout à la Julian Casablancas or Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen, or lapse into a stentorian yawp that brings to mind Mark E. Smith of The Fall or Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner."[21] Ian Blau of Rolling Stone said that Winter "shines throughout [3D Country]", where he "contorts his voice to fit any set of lyrics or musical style."[22] When it comes to Winter's vocals on Heavy Metal, Walden Green of Pitchfork characterizes his voice as a "woozy baritone", a "versatile and tender instrument ... immediately remarkable for its sheer range and depth of tone."[11] Fellow musician Nick Cave lauded his voice on Heavy Metal as "glorious" and "emotive".[23][24]lmaos all around, signed to a label at 18 straight out of high school for a band that never released an album before

empty contrarianism killed this boardit would make sense to dismiss this album as a bad rock album if i clicked on the catalog and saw like 10 threads talking about great rock albums/bands but there's actually nothing there
>>127950629If it's any consolation anon, Geese is unironically my favorite band right now and I just trustfundpost because it's funny. If I didn't like them I just wouldn't bother making any posts about them
>>127949089>another industry plant band
>>127950629Everytime there’s a thread about great rock music no one posts in it or zoomers just shitpost
I might just be a retard but it feels like every time I've listened to a critically acclaimed "rock" album in the last 5-years it's just crypto country music or some kinda lo-fi folk.
>>127951195Getting Killed isn't really either of these though. In fact I really don't think I've heard any band that sounds like Geese. It's like some neo-blues type thing going on
It doesn't matter if you think people are being contrarian. People are simply resistant to being told what they should like. And if there is an atom of astroturf people will sniff it out and they will resent you for trying to manipulate them. Try all you like, but it was the same thing with the airplane album.

THERE'S A BOMB IN MY CAAAAAAAAARRR
I like this album. Though I get the feeling this is the last throb of life that will come out of the Anglo cultural sphere, which feels already drained of vitality. And I like how they found a new sound for themselves playing with some older influences. If you try to pin them down as poppified Tom Waits or Beefheart it doesn't work, there's always something that you won't find in those references. A sign that their formula is more than their influences. It's a heartful album, whether they're trustfunders or not matters less
it slopped
