Are you satisfied with the Twin Reverb, /gg/?
>>127951382It was good then but it's really not that good an amp now. Carried by the Fender name.
Jazzmaster race checking in. I had a dream the other night that I was playing this guitar on stage and the paint on the headstock started melting and slid off like a loose sheet of ice on a windshield. Downright Freudian stuff.
Was confused for weeks about the notes of the 7th chord and why it uses the flat 7 and not the major 7, turns out scotty does explain in. Just way after I've already found out the answerhttps://youtu.be/96oxNPqm5Gs?t=1189
CAGED is ok for learning chords but I would avoid it for scales, especially if you want to play fast. Stick to 3 nps. You won’t find shredders using CAGED for much, apart from some fretboard visualization and basic triads.
>>127948927You can use MIDI over USB-C, right? I'm wondering if there's any latency when switching presets that way.
>>127949614If you’re a neet or a part time hobbyist maybe.
This but black pick guard
>>127951768Gearheads never have any skill, just a collection
>>127951731I somewhat disagree. You can shred CAGED scales pretty fast too, it's just they muck up the consistency if you're trying to play a sequence through a scale, so 3nps is better suited for those situations.
>>127951612dominant 7th chord, maj7, min7 simple as
>>127951777This is literally my kit les paul.
>>127951871Cope. I play exponentially more now that my stable of guitars has quadrupled. Having lots of nice guitars makes you want to play them all as much as possible.
>>127951884My understand was that in every major chord, you pick off notes from the major scale. Turns out you do do that, but with the mixolydian scale actuallyAnd if the scale isn't specified minor, it's major
>>127949614>squier bass>boss katanaI have a question. Is amp like katana able to handle bass guitar? Doesn't it fuck up the circuits or the speaker is some way, since it's not made for such low frequencies?
>>127951921That sounds like a you problem frankly. I had a squier jazzmaster for the longest time which got me real, real far. >>127952001If you crank it yeah but if you’re just using it for practice and playing at lower volume it should be fine. If it’s for gigging just get a bass amp, they’re fairly reasonable price wise

>>127948850>weren't rick basses like thissomewhat similar in that they have something going over the strings, yes, but it's only part of the magnet (see pic related). there isn't a whole other pickup up top like in my concept.I find it hard to believe nobody had this idea before me. sure the whole contraption would get in the way, but I'd expect to find at least some old forum post discussing something of the sort. maybe info that someone already tried it in the 60s or 70s and deemed it pointless. perhaps it's that current day search engines just suck.If I could play guitar I'd order a cheap Harley-Benton or Squier, some wire and a soldering iron, 3d print a pickup holder and try to put the idea into practice straight away, but as I got my first guitar literally this week there's no point in doing it yet. it'd be like coming up with and wanting to test a new kind of tyre while you can't even drive a car.
>>127952609crap, meant to reply to >>127946780
>>127952568you cant hide whats inside>>127952609maybe you could recess the pickup inside the body so it doesnt get in the way now that i think about it i think old lap steel guitars had a pickup like what youre describing, lollar pickups make one for lap steel guitars called “string through steel” pickup thats basically exactly what youre describing
>>127952642pic related, its a lap steel pickup
> The S6 (S for Split Coil) is a humbucking split coil pickup that utilizes a magnetic yoke arrangement, as used on multiple classic string through pickups. The magnets connect to upper and lower steel plates creating a uniform magnetic field in the string zone, which allows for free string movement since there is no net magnetic force on the strings.exactly what youre describing

>>127952019Buddy, I don’t practice anymore, I’ve been playing for 22 years. I’ve been in successful bands, played large festivals, I play for fun and leisure, I have most if not all the skill and technique needed to make the music I want to make. Nobody is judging you for being poor and playing budget instruments, I’m judging you for asking why anyone would want more than a budget instrument. It’s a stupid question and it makes you look stupid and poor.
>>127950635If they didn't have those gay-ass, tiny dots it wouldn't be as bad. That's what does it.
I wish the jag vintera had block inlays
>>127952654>>127952662>>127952688it's interesting, and the function description of "sounds clear just like a single coil while being humbucking" sounds like just about like the most ideal possible outcome. but from what I understand that there above the string is a steel plate, not another coil, and they achieve the humbucking by splitting the pickup into smaller 3-string coils one of which is reverse wound to cancel out the 60 cycle hum when both are connected. a very elegant solution, I'm guessing those similarly split (but otherwise conventional looking, no plate ontop) pickups I've seen on basses serve a similar purpose. but from that means it's still different. for reference, here's my highly professional sketch again. literally 2 single coils facing each other, the top one being a repurposed middle pickup (which from my understanding tend to be wound in reverse) for ease of attempting at home. I'm not saying that it necessarily is a good idea, just a silly "what if" I'm surprised I cannot find mentioned at any point.

Did your technique improve with a premium pick?
>>127953863I use my fingers
>>127952915Nothing's stopping you from trying go for it! Having the bottom pick up recessed seems like a good idea. Maybe attach on the bridge as well rather than neck side so it doesn't get in the way of picking or strumming. I suggest getting 2 cheap identical guitars, say 2 firefly strats. Have one as the test model, the other to modify so you can A/B test it. Auditory memory is very short, around 5 second and the timbral information dies iirc. Best to have it plugged into an interface with 2 inputs so you can clearly hear what your mod did.>>127953863Not necessarily premium but a stiffer and thicker pick with beveled or pointy edges did help my widdly diddlies.
