Do you have any autistic rules for listening to music? I always try to listen to an album in one sitting, and if I'm interrupted I start the entire thing over.

>>127951358I have this autistic trait too.it actually pisses me off because I can never get in the mindset of listening to a new album because I know I'll get interrupted

I have golden ears so to me every component is important in my stereo system. It's important to hear the music as the musician and mastering engineer would have intended so I use large powered monitor speakers such as you'd find in a large studio, and a separate subwoofer of course. HS8's and HS10. They are pretty much a universal standard in the studio and replaced my old NS10's and sub I had for a long time.Even more importantly I can easily hear the difference between different DACs especially with some particular music which I know well. As I have this music on vinyl as well as CD and even SACD for some, I know how it's supposed to sound, but many DACs break down with it.One particular DMX Krew track features a dot-matrix printer doing the hats part, and you can hear this very distinctly on vinyl (I have this album on 45). It's very very rare to hear a delta-sigma or other 1-bit DAC handle this decently from the CD. TDA1540/1541 plays it fine, my Burr-Brown DAC in my Parasound P5 preamp plays it fine, my CLD-97 with Legato Link Conversion plays it just fine. My Sony DVP-S9000ES plays it fine. Almost nothing else I've tried does, I have tried many high-end CD and DVD and SACD players and external DACs. On almost all of them the dot-matrix printer (which is pretty low in the mix) sounds exactly like a normal hat, or almost like a burst of just white noise with some players.Deaf people probably can't relate to any of this, nor can poors or people with dry earwax.
