Jazz musicians are great for the first 2 minutes and then they always overstay their welcome and bore me to death for the next 4+ minutes. Do they lack self awareness?

It's more fun to play it.
Try listening to more fusion.
>>
>oh look another thread of ignorant rockists getting filtered by basic improv
stick to radiohead and death grips

Thanks, I will.

>It's more fun to play it.
As someone who knows how grueling and rigorous it is to play competent jazz, this argument always comes off like cope retardation from someone who only knows how to play power chords on guitar.
>Try listening to more fusion.
You're joking. Almost all fusion after 1976 is quintessential jazz wankery. Along with free jazz it killed the genre when modal, hard-bop and cool jazz players wanted to scale everything back, not become self-indulgent spazzes. Post-bop and progressive big band are the genres you want for an even compromise between these two extremes. Not that it matters if you're someone who spent the past 20 years only absorbing rock/pop tonality, you'll have better luck giving King Lear to some retarded 6 year old who only speaks korean.

Can you sit through a symphony or just the first two minutes with the main motif? These sort of complaints are always just focus issues on the listener's part
>>
>YEAH MAN I LOVE JAZZ
>I LISTEN TO MILES DAVIS, JOHN COLTRANE, CHARLES MINGUS... THE LIST GOES ON AND ON!
>>
>>127967002
>Ryo Fukui, Kamasi Washington, Kendrick Lamar.....the list just goes on....

whining about music more complicated than 3 chords and le truth needs to be part of those ADHD starter pack memes

Jazz hurts my ears

You should listen to Kamasi Washington's The Epic. The album is 3 hours long, the shortest song on the album is 7 minutes and it NEVER feels bloated or redundant. EVER.
>>
do you?
>>
>>127965009
2 minutes? I rarely last 5 seconds.
>>
>>127966918
So you're racist towards Korean 6 year olds? In plain English don't tell me I didn't happen. Creepy
Tell me about King Lear go ahead I am very curious how knowledgeable you are on that motherfucker

>>127967002
anything is better than >>127967171 which is real jazz tourism (not counting jazz playlists)
>>
>>127965702
why would anyone ever want to listen to improvisational music over music written with care and intent? it's like preferring to listen to a writer shout out random words over reading a book he wrote.
>>
>>127971712
because the musicians are still following certain rules when improvising, whereas some hack writer doing that isn't
>>
Jazz is just progressive metal for normies
>>
>>127974273
other way around

Stream-of-consciousness prose is remarkably common in literary fiction, as you may know were you not an illiterate nigger

Improv is only random in free-fusion-wankery shit. Sorry your parents raised you on radioslop for years so now you're musically retarded kek
>>
>>127971712
Not all composition is done with care and not all improvisation is done with carelessness. You couldn't figure out something that basic on your own?
>>
>>127971712
There's value in the spontaneity of an improvisational context. Artists can create music they could never otherwise preplan. For example, Chopin would improvise and then become frustrated with trying to recall what he had played when writing it down. He would remark that his improvisations were usually better than what he eventually wrote down.
It's like an autist phoning a girl and writing down a script of what to talk about vs a Chad that just goes off the cuff. If the Chad tried to write a script it would just ruin his spontaneity and make him appear stiff.
The goal of skilled jazz musicians is to become so good at the instrument that you can simply play whatever comes into your head.
With that being said, there are limitations. Dense polyphony cannot really be improvised and must be composed, due to the inherent complexity. I am a fan of both ways of creating music. People who say improvisation can't be good are autists with limited understanding of music

getting pushed and pulling towards a million different things at the same time is real music because thats kinda what life is sometimes (especially if you have adhd). the people who are able to stick the landing after that and have it all make sense are pretty amazing to me

Just create timeless songs man.
Jazz fags are pure cope.
Literally the midwit meme.
Rock guys are lazy jazz guys are too ‘smart’ to zoom out and realize everything they’re doing is wankery.

How to shut up a jazz faggot.
>The only genre where the ‘better’ you get the smaller the club you play

BTFO.

there has to be a way of saying this that doesn't make you look hormonal or mad
>>
>Guys, a-am I fitting in yet??
>>
>>127979398
Posting ragebait and then scolding people for getting mad would seem to be a contradiction to me, but who knows? Everyone here is absolutely retarded
>>
>>127979379
>the ‘better’ you get the smaller the club you play
thats literally every genre
>>
>>127979526
That's my point, good ragebait hides the fact they're mad
