Hi, I've never listened to metal before and now I am suddenly interested in the genre.

What are anon's recommended bands, albums or "path" for a complete newbie to start listening to the genre?

A skeleton image because skeletons are pretty metal.

Just type in "metal full album" in YouTube and listen to some shit, or try the basic bitch band Metallica, but they're a bore.

listen to judas priest and iron maidens 80s stuff
or get into the nu metal like slipknot and soad.

listen to both in tandem if you can and then go into classics like rust in piece and master of puppets.

That's right, OP should go back into metal's history and listen to those beloved and influential albums I posted.

Listen to surface level bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slipknot, etc.

If you like slower sounding metal, listen to Doom, Groove and Industrial metal.

If you like faster sounding metal, listen to Thrash, Death and Black Metal.

Just dig on RYM. Once you found your niche the charts are pretty accurate. Anything rated above ~3.30 should be good for a noob.

>Slipknot
I was bullied for listening to that band in 2010

Slipknot have slowly rolled back to being popular again because of nostalgia and normalfags put it in the same category as Linkin Park or Evanescence.
>>
It depends on your style of metal really. For example, I could recommend you SOAD, but whether you'd love it or hate it would depend on your own taste of feeling.

Same but it was around 2006

Try to be well rounded in the various subgenres and remember the most popular bands aren’t necessarily the best or the most “you”.
