For most people, a military enlistment is 4 years of horseshit to wade through for free college.
Jason Everman wasn't an average soldier at all, he spent 12 years between the Army Rangers and Green Berets, literally the top 1% of all infantrymen in the military.
Even if you think the military is lame, his achievements during his time in the Army shouldn't be compared to an average soldier.

Theres an infamous show in which Kurt had destroyed his guitar the night before and they were unable to get a guitar in time for the concert, so Jason had to be the only guitarist that night. You can listen to this bootleg and hear how sloppy and unpracticed his playing in, and all he had to do was play Kurt's riffs with Kurt every night and he blows it badly. It's not surprising they kicked him out, he was a shitty musician.
