Not sure when hip hop and drill artists started using the “strange fruit” Billie Holliday sample I saw instances of rappers using it 10yrs ago on YouTube though. Wondering if this sample is used in any other genres or by rappers that I don’t know(I looked at a lot small artists and their versions though)

These are my three favorite

1. Lee Drilly - Blood on the Leaves
https://youtu.be/YrUAr0p9LSk
My favorite. This dude’s a real deal rapper, wishing him all good things when he’s out in a year
2.Mori Briscoe-“BLOOD ON THE LEAVES”
https://youtu.be/LSq9TbO0iTk
Brooklyn guy, super talented too
3. SLUMPSUMN QUAN - BLOOD ON THE LEAVES ( 2021 )
https://youtu.be/YkVL3X0gKlY
Totally random find in the depths of YouTube, wishing this guy success…
You particularly like any versions of the poem/song?Have you heard the theories that the fbi sold Billie Holliday heroin?

I wasn’t gonna but honorable mention to the babylocc83 version which was super fire and the studio video they shot was lit too. This is the Bronx Honduran Spanish drill artist I made a thread for a couple day ago

This really might be the “technically” best one but this song is about your energy and pain, frankly if I could translate this well I’d better be able to say but yeah

Yea >>127979314 like lol you just know you can never control this sound they already have the money oh and btw they fucking hate you just like they should, every crypto kike that brought them here, raped, and lynched, bought, controlled, and kept poor. I mean you’d be hard pressed to fix a woke person in the Bronx that doesn’t spit at Robert (((Moses))) and what would you know to you my listed artists are from the Bronx. I DONT apologize for the antisemitism

I listened to NY drill when PNV Jay was the only drill rapper from the Bronx and had to claim the Brooklyn scene lol. I would just assume you're some kind of sandie because what self-respecting le based white nationalist is gonna listen to ghetto monkey music?

lol it’s a long story and I have posted a little about it before but I genuinely love this kind of real hip hop not in a like haha look at monkey dance but this is amazingly poetic, musically moving and a powerful way for young men to express real shit. like I’m holding two realities in my head that are difficult to, those being, 1.the history of black people in America, getting it pretty bad 2. I love white people, we need to protect them

That’s why this post and good rap posts on /mu/ don’t get a lot of reply’s, because yall Whites(once me included) infected with race hate won’t see that Black Americans can have gone through a terrible piece of of recent history and when they sing about poverty/wealth , bad lifestyle choices and their consequences , brotherhood , struggle & triumph etc over a sampled “Strange Fruit” with drill rhythm you can give it an honest listen and say it was good. Doesn’t change that their community is a tick with Lyme disease right now and White people have a right to do what they need to do live well. I know I respect this music and the artists who produce it way more than the NEPO babies
