The transitions between the heavy and soft parts are too abrupt.
Yeah, they don't have the vision to weave it all together, nor the sense to ask if it's even a good idea.Try this instead, it's another recent genre-bending death metal album, just done right.
Because they don't know how to write a song, even as far back to Starspawn (which I do like). They have the same problem Opeth did where ideas just started and stopped with no cohesion. It's all riff salad.
>>127980172Agreed, it's a solid concept but their execution is way off. I enjoyed the album, but the weak structure and form just keeps me away from checking out again. I like picrel much more for this sort of ethereal ambient death metal vibe.
>>127980634based album. they do better morbid angel material than morbid angel comes up with these days.
>>127980634genuinely my favorite death metal of all time. fucking peak
>>127980172i've been saying this since it released. there's artists that blend the 2 styles far better but reddit thinks this is genius
>>127980172Exactly. Hidden History had breadth to it, that record had a sense of exploration combined with keen precision. Absolute Everywhere on the other hand goes full Joker Folie à Deux
>>127980172It's a shame because both their heavy and prog parts are great.>>127980515>They have the same problem Opeth did where ideas just started and stopped with no cohesionOpeth managed to sound a bit more cohesive because their softer parts were more subdued or more "serious" if you will. Blood Incantation on the other hand tries to incorporate 70s Genesis and Rush to death metal which just sounds wrong.Their live shows are great though I'll give them that. I went to the Absolute Elsewhere tour where they played the entire album and it was a great time.
>>127980172It's just Opeth with synths
>>127980515>They have the same problem Opeth did where ideas just started and stopped with no cohesionThat's only a problem with their first 3 albums
>>127980277Afterbirth has one of the craziest comebacks of any death metal band I've ever seen>pioneer slam death metal in the early 90s with an EP an that's it>disband>come back 25 years later out of no where as one of the best prog death bands of our time
>>127980172Yeah it's almost like this album is a hamfisted attempt at "forward thinking" life metal by fart sniffing hipsters.
>>127980172Dan Swano did death metal with synths better
>>127980829>>127981174based posters with based taste. i was just listening to some songs from Behind the Shadows last night, vibing like a motherfucker
>>127983191Watershed is probably the worst offender of it. I do remember Still Life being better at that stuff but it returns for most BWP songs.
>>127985213>Watershed is probably the worst offenderHow can you dislike Heir Apparent and Lotus Eater
>>127980634>>127980172>>127980277Gigan also has an amazing take on space metal
>>127984565Yeah it's Life Metal in the worst way. Elvenefris filters me, but it's probably the furthest and best execution of the concept.
>>127980277This album is so good I can look past the horrible slam vocals
>>127985349I don't. Where the fuck did I say or suggest I do
It was recently discovered that they ripped off Venenum almost verbatim. Nothing this band does is original.https://youtu.be/qtlb7P40DPA?t=45
>>127980277thanks for the rec this is good stuff
>>127980172i thought it was a really good albumpost the link btw
