so is music cooked overall? is there hope or is it mostly rehashed everything?
>>127987357Everything has been rehashed shit since like the early 2000s. Lucky for us there are literally thousands of old bands we can still listen to
culture is pretty cooked in general (though it's particularly bad in music)we've had a decade where people have completely given up on the idea of even attempting to make something neweven the 'underground' has completely abandoned trying new ideas and fetishes the past in some ways even more than the mainstreamand now the machines are here to make sure we can have another decade of>what if old thing but <gimmick>>what if this thing but also this other thinglate-millennials and gen-z have completely failed to make anything worthwhile
No, music is not cooked, but:- Don't use streaming or listen to algorithm based playlists - Don't read low effort criticism. Do not under any circumstance watch fantano or pay heed to his retarded followers- Avoid AI music at all costs- Find music based on scenes, labels, movements etc. as opposed to what is popular- Ignore all "beefs" in pop music- Support local music
>>127987357You're just getting old. There's still lots of great stuff being released. Personally I think Oh I Rap Ya was better than a lot of so-called classic albums.
I'd say art in general is cooked, writing, cinema, music, etc. are completely beyond saving, the only people who still have it are the niche collectives (Primal Noise for example)
>>127987416>late-millennials and gen-z have completely failed to make anything worthwhileYet they both think they're God's gift to all history and humankind and have the answer on every subject. But nothing worth a shit to actually show for any of it.
blah blah blah there was a bad decade because of DEIshit but that's done now. things are looking up.
>>127987668AI will replace it all.
>>127987680AI is a novelty/pyramid scheme that only Pajeets take seriously.
This "music is over because we're running out of new coats of paint to brush over pop structures" is almost as dumb as saying chemistry is over because we can't find any more elements. There is no ceiling on melody or composition, you just need to be a very good architect.

>>127987357It’s been cooked. This is what happens when multinational asset firms like BlackRock and Vanguard own every facet of the industry, from the labels to the streaming platforms to the venues and tour promoters. And here’s the kicker: They’re not doing it to make money. They have more than enough of that already. They’re doing it for social engineering purposes. They’re normalizing things that would have been considered parasitic and depraved in any other period of human history so that the next generation will be acclimated to it and won’t complain while they’re being robbed blind and sold downstream. They are making sure that men and women, boomers and zoomers, rich and poor, white and brown, straight and gay, liberal and conservative, religious and secular all stay at war with one another and never align with one another and move against their manipulators.Larry Fink may look like a harmless dork, but he is an extremely evil man.
>>127990087>depraved in any other period of human historyAs much as I hate it, I hate everyone else for playing along and not fighting back. They prove to be the very people that deserve to be manipulated and controlled.
>>127987416Late Millennials didn't fail. The internet underground used to be great.
Gen Alpha will bring a cultural reset but in what direction. That's the grand question.
>>127987416Some of us tried, but really it was the completion of the worldwide mind control operation (some call it the internet) that destroyed any hope of sincere expression of novel ideas being disseminated in a manner that created meaningful creative lore looking towards the future. In other words, we had the rug pulled out from under us; the ladder was pulled up behind them, etc.
>>127987357Are there any new electronic microgenres? Even rehashed or combination ones. I was following years ago when the original dubstep stuff was out (like Skream not Skrillex) and Synthwave also kind of devolved into new wave emo vocal pop slop. Any newer derivitaves like those?

Music was shit when I became a teenager in late 2016 only to be obliterated before I can see freedom. You truly don't fucking know. Every day for nearly over a year I've been thinking about this. The moment I saw people shitting on Gen Alpha on social media and romanticising 2016 I knew that it was all over. I'm counting my days. >>127987357we need innovation, I haven't seen any genuine innovation so far, its mostly zoomers trying to recreate 90s genres

>>127987766This im sick of the attitude that we need a new barely different genre every 10 years for music to survive. All we need to come back is good songwriters getting paid fairly.

>>127994923The misfits wrote genius songs with the worst production, while basically just homaging mid century American music. Nothing about them is new to their time period and they were obsessed with music from decades prior, but they were hugely influential and beloved just for genius songwriting
>>127994966yeah man misfits are real timeless. would have fit right in with the do-wop artists of the 40s. definitely not a product of their time. definitely didn't make aesthetic and musical choices that were of their time.we should just keep remaking music between the 60s and 90s forever. the 80s are the best. 80s 4ever.loser.
>>127994982Aesthetics matter more to you than music
>>127987416>>127987643I tire of reading posts from old boomer faggots who don’t listen to anything new and just love to hate everything. You don’t contribute anything.

>>127994982They didn't invent anything they did, and rely hugely on homage to music that was decades old. Tons of bands from musics golden age do the same. Stone Temple pilots base their sound off of music from the 50s and 60s (before anyone in the band was even born) even a band as inventive and unique as queen borrows heavily from their peers and the big 60s and 70s rock bands
>>127995069>musics golden agelol>Stone Temple pilots>scott weiland doing an impression of eddie vedder on plush:>i'm just like frank sintara actually
>>127995095The late 20th century is usually viewed as the golden age, and Sinatra didn't invent swing
>>127995110>usually viewedsums up the problem, innit.
Everyone thinks they know everything about music, that's the problem. Just look at all the stupid arguing itt. If you're a musician now, no matter what you do some guy is gonna be like, "this is just post-punk with krautrock influences" or whatever. Nobody wants to be surprised or impressed anymore, they think music is a puzzle to be solved and you can break it down into little pieces to combine in novel or predictable ways. And they think that viewing music this way makes them more discerning. Even some musicians think that way now, which is also a problem. But it's really prevalent on here and places like RYM, people care more about genre tags and giving out scores than just enjoying music.
>>127990087>Larry Fink may look like a harmless dork, but he is an extremely evil man.luckily now that his puppetmasters in the DNC have been removed from power he's nothing. little more than a Hoffjuden to carry out Obama and Pelosi's commands.
>>127994982you don't have to sign your posts here
>>127995383I mean it's still a relatively new thing that an avid music listener could listen to thousands of albums in just a handful of years while having each release be genre tagged by peers. so to some extent people do more know about music than ever. I don't think people are forcing themselves not to be surprised or impressed, they just aren't surprised or impressed since they've got a better lay of the land than previous generations. of course there's the standard cycle of these people growing into their 30s so their tastes are calcifying and trendy music isn't meant for them anymore so they complain, which just adds to the fatigue experienced by them.
