Who was the better band?
>>
>>127987610
I prefer nirvana
>>
>>127987610
Nirvana had more original output than GnR until 2008
>>
>>127987917
they had the exact same except GnR didn't go off the rails because people were questioning their punk credibility
>>
>>127989147
Right, they went off the rails because Axl was being a twat
>>
>>127989168
No, they still put out amazing shit on their last album despite it being mostly filler. Kurt was sperging out because he was scared of being too mainstream so he went and made a shit album on purpose.
>>
guns and roses was the last gasp of hair metal, hair metal was dying even before nirvana, went too pop, they even started doing acoustic songs, the most unmetal thing ever. Guns and roses brought back the sleaze and danger of early hair metal and made it cool again.

Nirvana somehow took college and alt rock and made it mainstream, a complete contradiction that discombobulated the dna of rock and roll itself and rearranged it to the point grunge, post grunge, took over for like 15 years. also made hair metal seem lame.
>>
>>127989147
>Bleach
>Nevermind
>Incesticide
>In Utero

All original material (with one or two exceptions)

Then the posthumous stuff vs GnR's output it's clear who had more. Chinese Democracy is a Axel Rose solo album btw
>>

Imagine making more money for the people trying to kill you.
>>
>>127989246
>Appetite
>lies
>Use your illision 1
>Use your illusion 2

Insecticide was just B-sides and it cancels out Lies which is an EP. So you have 3 full albums by both bands.
>>
Apples and oranges. I like both. Nirvana have better melodies most of the time. I don't think of GNR as being overly misogynistic or racist or anything. Even the softest libtard has to admit "Sweet Child of Mine" is a great song. If you don't like that song I don't believe you. I wanna see doctors put those suction cup things with wires on your head and read your brain waves while they play it for you, because I don't believe that you don't like it
>>
I'll take Appetite over anything from Nirvana, but after that it's easily Nirvana. For me

1. Appetite
2. Nevermind
3. In Utero
4. Incesticide
5. Use Your Illusion II
>>
>>127989550
>not racist
>release a song where he calls out N-words.
>>
>>127987610
both look girly anyway nirvana
>>
>>127987610
It depends on what you value as good, like, both bands were super authentic, they were making real music and living it through...

Their influences though were very different.
>>
>>127989633
90 percent of the world is literate enough to understand that One in a Million isn't a racist song, but a song written from the perspective of a character. Pretty sure even Kurt knew that. He was just mad that they played cock rock. I mean, fucking Slash is black dude
>>
liking Kurt as an adult tells everyone to stay away from you.
>>
>>127989623
pretty much this
>>
>>127987610
Guns always beat Kurt.
>>
NIRVANA
Kurt was a charismatic poet
Axl is hysteric pussy
>>
GNR wins in some categories:
>bigger musical vocabulary, wider range of sound
>much better guitar work
>arguably better lyrics, focused and cohesive
Nirvana wins some categories:
>more interesting vocal melodies and chord progressions
>higher consistency, less filler/low effort songs
>arguably better lyrics, artsy and avant garde

the lyrics are up to taste so I gave it to both. overall I prefer Nirvana but they are not the same kind of band as GNR
>>
>>127987610
GNR easily Nirvana made immature music for teenagers and had bad guitar playing.
>>
>>127993332
they both made music for teenagers. I wouldn't call Kurt's guitar playing 'bad' at all, the parts are well written and executed and pulling off a big Slash style solo would make Nirvana songs worse.
I admit GNR is a better 'guitar band', but calling Nirvana or Kurt bad at guitar is ignorant. Kurt wrote really good guitar parts (Come as you are, all apologies are both huge hits with interesting guitar parts)
>>
Gun N Roses have two albums I like (Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion 2) Nirvana have always been utter garbage to me, their music is 3 chord nonsense Kurt couldn't create a good guitar solo and was an annoying leftist faggot.
>>
>>127993374
>I wouldn't call Kurt's guitar playing 'bad' at all

Lol he was a bad guitarist he had poor technical skill and excessively played power chords. Nirvana made immature music for teenagers the lyrics in most their songs were immature. The songwriting and lyrics on that In Utero album were so bad it's not even funny nothing but a bunch of bad immature whiny lyrics
>>
>>127993438
What are your real thoughts on it?
Not some regurgitated nonsense you heard from other people.
>>
>>127992195
Claiming to dislike Nevermind outs you as a neckbearded principled contrarian.
>>
>>127987610
they're both good albeit incredibly overrated bands, but nirvana is slightly better

Well, Kurt did successfully murder hair metal and leave it's mutilated corpse in the dumpster of a Denny's parking lot, which is something I'm eternally grateful for, however, Axl had the superior boypuss, so it's a really hard call
>>
>>127989241
Guns & Roses is Slash, and Slash is Blues. Guns & Roses is Duff, and Duff is Punk. They would've had a far better band if their singer wasn't a castrated narcissist with look-at-me-and-my-infantile-issues lyrics.

Kurt was fantastic but boorish (and genuinely ill), Dave (Grohl) and Pat (Smear) saved his ass on drums and rhythm guitar. There's no Nirvana without either of them.
