So, am I just missing something about this dude's music, or is this some kind of collective effort by everybody in existence to pretend that Zappa's awful music is good as some kind of long-running joke?
>>127995434What you're missing is that you don't like music. You like little nursery rhymes, sing-alongs, and beep boops.
>>127995434You wouldn't get it. You're not smart enough to understand his music
>>127995434His stuff is for baby geniuses only.
I donβt think Zappa ever made music out of passion, he made it to spite people.
>>127995541>>127995557literal mouth breathing retard boomers. zappa fucking sucks and always has
I'm in the middle of listening to every album of his before his death, starting Thing-Fish now. In his comedy and his music he can be hit or miss. When he lands he's killer, when he misses it's spectacular. One of my rules of thumb is if Terry Bozzio sings on a song it's guaranteed to be awful. Nowadays I'm less drawn to his satirical songs, although I will always love Brown Shoes Don't Make It. Listen to Waka/Jawaka, it's very pleasant.
>>127996604>Brown Shoes Don't Make Ithttps://youtube.com/watch?v=oNULHGsy3SEoh, I get it, Frank Zappa is for brain-fried drug addicts
sheik and apostrophe are the by far some of the weakest releases of that era. too much unfunny "comedy" whereas a lot of the other albums were jazz fusion/prog rock masterpieces. his earlier comedic stuff worked because it was sharper and more satirical, but then getting into the mid 70s it just became silly horseshit. Like going from cynicism to nihilism. Joe's Garage is still really good tho
>>127996667We're Only in It for the Money was definitely the peak of his satire stuff, and that was a very early album.
>>127996652I actually prefer the live version on Tinsel Town Rebellion, it sounds much better to me.>>127996667I agree on Sheik Yerbouti, Apostrophe has some great jams on it though.
I can understand only knowing him for his comedic songs and thinking he's a less funny Weird Al. But I dare you to listen to Willie the Pimp and tell me it don't get your head nodding
>>127995434>pretend that awful music is good as some kind of long-running joke?half of /mu/core
>>127996376I understand that you're angry over your own lack of intelligence but that's no way to talk to actual people. You are not a person so don't deserve respect, I am a person so I do.
>>127995434Congratulations you have escaped the matrix. You will get seething and insults, but you are not wrong.About 5% of Zappa is good, up to you to look for it or not
>>127995434It's music for musicians, composers and musicologists. Like Gershon Kingsley or Jean-Jacques Perrey. They managed to "sort of" branch out into pop culture and make a bit more money than they originally intended. That's it really.
>>127996944at least when patton makes bad music it's interesting. you listen to lead-brained scooby doo retard music for boomers. i would seriously end my life if i ever got into the headspace where this slop was relevant to me. there is so much more interesting music from this generation that's worthy of your time. the only notable zappa did was advocate to the govt about artistic freedom, but he probably did it in recognition of his peers that were already far beyond his talent
>>127996773That SUCKED. I would rather have been rick-rolled.
Is it just me who liked this? It's pretty interesting avant-garde stuff with the plus of that monk singing
>>127995434Just listen to his instrumental tunes, the rambling sucks.https://youtu.be/HwakfxJV8bQ?si=88N0E3pvOtKjafT-
I'm a little bit more spiritually enlightened and higher IQ than you but I'm also handsome and strong and rich too and I think Frank Zappa rocks and rolls. End of topic, you're wrong and I'm right. A tale as old as time.
>>127997199>I would rather have been rick-rolled.this is how I felt when people kept rec'ing him to me. I am glad I am not alone. >hey anon you like ween>you should listen to zappa It's never even slightly clicked.
>>127997175Learn to upper-case.
>>127999224I'm not redneck white trash so I don't see myself ever enjoying this
>>127997813I love his synclavier stuff. I wish he had lived at least another 10 years, he would've done some wild computer music in the late 90s.
>>127995797Factually wrong.
