why is music not adventurous like this anymore? why does it feel so structured and expected now? was the framework still being made in the 2000s?less and less did great albums pop up in 2010s and now especially in the 2020s

>>128000608There's still obviously adventurous stuff, but I think the big factor right now is how dependent visibility is on algorithms instead of word of mouth or even critical write-ups. Though the latter is judt as much a product of how formerly indie-focused platforms themselves turned back to radio pop and rap in the last 15 years.And perhaps another factor is that as it becomes easier and easier for anyone to record something and put it out, each year there's more oversaturation of material to sift through, and much of it is going to be people trying to mimic already established sounds and tropes.

Music from even 15 yrs ago felt so much fresher, even though it was derivative of older artists, as all music is. And in retrospect, those albums are still good for the most part (some aged poorly)But somehow, bands like Geese that are pushed as the 2nd coming of rock, are equally derivative but don't feel fresh at all

Your music and your image has to conform to it. I've tried getting on playlists recently and maybe I just suck and am out of touch but I always got the response that the music didn't fit.
