China has a huge domestic market bigger than the US and Europe combined. But I don't think the party-state likes stuff that is too aesthetically "confusing" or overstimulating. Communist dictatorships always view that kind of thing as a threat. The media is overwhelmingly state-owned and most of the stuff I see on state-owned channels is pretty tame, singer-songwriter ballads. It's not my taste but it's fine.
