I believe the moment I began to truly cultivate my music taste was during my time studying. I was in a filmmaking school on a small island in the Aegean, far from my home in Athens. My father, having recently lost his mother, sent me a collection of old records she had left behind. Among them was The Bells by Lou Reed. Whenever I found myself alone and melancholic, I would put it on. It remains my favourite album to this day, not because it was groundbreaking, but because of its profound raw emotional depth. The only truly experimental track on it is the last one, which also shares the album’s title. It’s a piece of music that, if listened to in the right state of mind and perhaps accompanied by a few indulgences, can stir something deep within. If it doesn’t move you to tears, then perhaps you have no soul. That record was a pivotal moment in shaping my musical inclinations, particularly towards 70s rock. A couple of years later, after meeting a group of friends who loved to party, I was introduced to Pete Doherty, first through The Libertines and later Babyshambles. It was his influence that led me to the early 2000s British rock scene. These two artists, Lou Reed and Pete Doherty, remain my favourite to this day, and even if I drift from them in the future, they will always have a special place in my heart.Later, after moving back to Athens, I reconnected with my old friends, who had recently developed an interest in classic Greek punk and post-punk records. We would spend countless weekends together, drinking cheap gin and listening to songs by bands like ΑΝΤΙ, Χαοτική Διάσταση, Χωρίς Περιδέραιο, and Έρεβος.
>>128082805>not liking classical period is midwit behavior>uuuuuh because I say so!!only good classical music is pre-1700 and post-1900 music, with few exceptions in between. Classical period is the peak of human rhetorics (aka masking 'not saying shit' with some bullshit about forms and the apex of human rationalism yadda yadda). Any random pre-baroque piece is more adventorous than that. Most music from the classical period should be burned with few exceptions, just like out of the blight of the Enlightenment the few literary works worthy of saving are the ones of De Sade
