Are generic 34db foam earplugs good enough for the concert? I'm seeing them on Saturday. Also, is getting drunk good enough for optimal experience?
>>
Earplugs are for pussies and that's a fact.

I've seen them a few times, never wore earplugs, they're loud but its more in the low end, you'll feel it in your chest more than it will grate your ears
>is getting drunk good enough for optimal experience?
getting super high is more suitable imo but ymmv

>the ringing in my ears is how I remember I'm cool

if I get tinnitus at 23 I'm blowing my brains Kronlein style, not a hint of exaggeration here

that's reassuring, thx anon

You dont need earplugs honestly, just don't stand too close to the speakers. Aim for the center of the room away from the front stage

don't fuck around with your hearing, it doesn't regenerate. wear earplugs at concerts.

Dude don't go if you don't like the music. Don't waste your time+money.

I like their music, as well as their style, and I've heard their concerts are a strong experience.
I simply want to protect my ears, as their sound is uniquely loud and repetitive

I saw them on Monday, second or third time, can't remember. didn't wear earplugs for the first 30 mins, but then I put them in because some of the higher notes were getting painful. No ringing or anything whatsoever after the concert.

I use custom earplugs and I would recommend getting them made if you're worried about your hearing and good concert experiences. Cheap generic earplugs aren't good enough for anything other than protecting you from noise. While Sunn are noise in a sense, they're not the noise you just want to drown out. A compromise is getting some better earplugs like Alpine MusicSafe Pro and experimenting with how far you insert them.

Intoxicated or not didn't really make a difference for me for Sunn.

Maybe you just shouldn't go, you know to be on the safe side.

I saw them with Boris and I can kinda still hear things. What was that u said?

>experimenting with how far you insert them.
I'm sure OP has experience with this

a Sunn O))) concert must be one of the most boring experiences imaginable if not the most boring one
>>
>>128092630
It's not boring, but it suffers from the adjacency to metal in that everyone thinks you have to stand in a crowd or it's weird. Instead, people should be lying on the floor to absorb all the vibration. There should be amplifying pillars all around the room that people can attach themselves to. Stuff like that.

my brother in Christ, I've always thought this too.
Imagine how good live drone would be if it was performed to very small audiences in huge venues with everyone lying around on some kind of comfy vibrating beanbag contraptions with sub woofers built in
