Best alternative to this trash?
pirating
>>128112959Why is it trash?
>>128113054not op, i'm assuming a combination of>low quality/fidelity music>pays artists like shit>algo sucks
>>128113054Music disappears without warning. Artists can write their own bios. This on top of the usual reasons streaming services are trash.
>>128113051This. Quobuz is a great streaming service audio quality wise, but it costs an arm and a leg. Tidal and Apple Music are fine, and if you’re dead set on streaming Apple Music is probably the best band for your buck. But pirating music is genuinely so easy. If your concern is that you want to listen to music on your phone, just download a free media player (like VLC) and use Lucida.to to get all the free music you want. Otherwise use soulseek if you’re on a computer.
>>128113054UI is shit i hate it
>>1281129591. buying physical like CDs (or vinyl if you're cringe)2. apple music
>>128113054redditors and troons hate how the CEO is funding AI drones or some gay shit like that
>>128112959rutracker
>>128113868This. Only leftists are against Spotify.
>>128112959apple music, just wish the app was better
I use Amazon musicI just wanna help Bezos in his quest for world domination Please no bully
>>128113051>tfw you've used a github repository to rip music from bandcamp.com
>>128113868>>128113933what is up with 4chan and>you know that fucked up thing a lot of people dislike? oh yeah that shit is actually le based!I swear I could get you retards to agree with anything as long as I said reddit hates it. You see this same thought process in twitter internet-only conservative types.
I'm perfectly happy with Spotify. The only algo stuff I use are release radar and discover weekly.
>>128113091It has lossless now
>>128112959Youtube, soundcloud
>>128113054Need to pay, fucking ads
CDs
>>128116016Isn't that only 128kbps?
>>128112959>Best alternative to this trash? An large and immaculately curated collection of lossless digital files which you can transfer and listen to on any device at any time free of charge with no interruptions or inconveniences entirely in the manner of your own choosing forever and ever without being subject to the stupid decisions of multi-billion megacorps wanting to squeeze extra money out of you or force feed you with advertising or uppity artists having tantrums about whatever it is this week
>>128116066always been like this, the more years pass the more only retards remain in this place. glad i only have the dumb idea to check every 3 months or so
>>128112959Why is it trash? There’s no alternative at this point
>>128113091>low qualityit has lossless>pays like shitthe alternative is pirating, lol>algo suckswhat do you mean by algo? add albums to your library and songs to playlists. what would you need an algorithm for?
>>128116456you lose a priceless amount of time managing and doing all of that.Spotify is portable, easy, add music with a click, no need to hunt shit across different websites, install and customize software like Foobar or some shit, synchronized across multiple devices, has the latest music quickly. It's perfectly convenient, unlike what you described.
>>128113051Allocation of space on the go is very annoying. I'd prefer being able to simply listen on my phone but as it stands I can hardly even have 200 albums on my 128gb phone. Spotify becomes a necessity then.
>>128112959There is none. The people who want to use other stuff are just contrarian hipster types who want to be so unique and different to everyone else and not use the most popular service.
It’s perfect. No complains
>>128113091>>low quality/fidelity music320kps is fine>>pays artists like shitwho cares all the good artists are already dead>>algo sucksif you use spotify to find new music you're a dumbass
>>128116583>the alternative is pirating, loldoesn't itunes or apple music allow you to buy individual songs/albums?
The previous UI was far better but no complains other than that.
>>128112959On mobile? Bandcamp and Newpipe. On desktop? YouTube + ubo
>>128112959Soulseek/Nicotine+ and Musicbee or Deadbeef
>>128116583>it has losslessA guy did some tests and found out there's still major distortion in Spotify's lossless mode. Only 0.01% of the original audio file is played back, the rest is distortion/compression. It also has other drawbacks such as only having redbook (44.1 kHz) audio, compared to other streaming services which can go up to 192 kHz.Your best bet is doing a one-time purchase from bandcamp for like $3 for an album in any format you want, or soulseek if you're really desperate. I like bandcamp though because it comes pre-tagged and it also supports the artist, and I don't trust other fags across the globe to rip their CDs correctly.
>>128117251Shill
>>128113054>Why is it trash?Horrible UI. Is pushing AI onto its own platform despite being a music platform.Bands have been pulling their music off of spotify lately because the platform has been getting extremely unpopular lately. The only good reason to stay is because you depend on their algorithm for new music, but even then you can just ask other nerds on the internet for good recs.Honorable mentions would be audio quality and how it pays artists literal fucking micro-pennies per stream. You'd be better off pirating their music and then paying for concert tickets and some merch, quite literally a year's worth of you streaming them and then some.
>>128117274>ShillIt's proven that it's not lossless here. Sorry to hate on your favorite billionaire brohttps://youtu.be/mH2723cSejE?si=9jspwEIjXWN94-WC
>>128116699>you lose a priceless amount of timeyeah ok pal youre just that busy with your high power job and all your commitments that youre killing time on 4chan on a weekday try to make it vaguely credible at least
>>128112959Unironically YouTube music, literally has every song unlike Spotify and you already get it with a premium subscription. I switched to it recently and it has been fairly good besides there being no official desktop app and some of the sorting options for albums leaves a lot to be desired. I like the option to switch to a music video along with videos people upload being an option as well. It being lossy doesn't matter unless you use an audiophile setup which at that point you probably have a local high quality music collection anyway.
>>128120064this
>>128117298320kbps is fine, especially on the go.
>>128116456this
>>128116066Nigga where do you think you are?
>>128116016Why pirates refuse to distribute tools to pirate band camp? >INB4 MUH INDEPENDENT ARTISTpathetic
>>128112959Pirate plus musicoletFuck streams changing my album covers and not having all the artists I want to listen
>>128116327You don't need more
>>128112959I starting subbing again to this shit for the past 6 months cause I met a girl and don't want her to think I'm some shut in boomer/retard who doesn't use current trendy apps. It's worked so far
>>128112959Listenbrainz
What device do you use to play your cds?
Y'all niggers need to get Spicetify. Like what the hell are you even doing with your lives?
>>128113933where can a nice republican feller like myself rock out to some godspeed you! black emperor?
>>128116699This is such a bullshit argument. Music is leisure, hobby, food for the mind and soul, simple enjoyment, or however you want to frame or conceive of it. The point, music is something people discover and explore, collect and listen to because they like doing it. Its not work or a chore that must be automated to the last possible degree, quite the opposite. What are you going to do with the half an hour a week you "save" by not engaging with your hobby as personally or actively as people used to?
>>128113546>Music disappears without warningthis is unavoidable due to artists being allowed to pull down, it’s actually a feature from that perspective >Artists can write their own biosnot even an issue once you’re aware of it
>>128116310It gave me a taste breakers playlist like 5 or 6 years ago and I enjoyed that but yeah trusting the algorithm on anything is fucking fucked
>>128113051/thread. Imagine NOT pirating music in 2025.
>>128128020very few zoomers can get their heads around it. they’re a fully corporatised herd of farm animals at this point. not only accepting of a life spent in a digital pen being gradually bled white by The Billionaires, but active and willing participants in the process because stepping outside the conformity of the herd or displaying any sign of independence is now unthinkable. even the idea of not paying monthly subscriptions for every aspect of their lives, or consuming media without also being served an appropriate amount of targeted advertising is genuinely uncomfortable for them.
>>128128163>very few zoomers can get their heads around itThey can only consoom. Vinyl, streaming, and on rare occasion even a CD if they can't find the vinyl version of it. They say they like owning their music, but they would NEVER EVER EVER EVER rip their cd or even do youtube to mp3 at the bare minimum.I know a person who defends the tiktok feature on Spotify where you can swipe through songs because it lets you "see the vibe of a song so you don't waste time listening to it". Fucking subhuman.>but active and willing participants in the process because stepping outside the conformity of the herd or displaying any sign of independence is now unthinkableChecked. Having any music taste outside of hiphop or vibey "le indie" music from 1980's - 90's is seen as an undesirable trait. I know older folks who have far more nuanced tastes in music that current gen folks. It's awful.
>>128113051fpbpDon't want to sound like a boomer, but back in my day this was the fucking default and I'm still shocked newer generations are too retarded and too conformist to get it.
>>128113588some people really like shilling Apple Music (*cough* fantano *cough*) since it pays artists better than spotify and suppodely has better audio quality, but it seems iffy when it comes to integration with stuff like last.fm or other applications. Also if you don't use iOS devices Apple does the retarded thing of making you wait a fucking week to reset your password so I'm not taking my chances with it
>>128129629All streaming services suck. Monthly subscription for music you could just as easily buy once for $5 an album on bandcamp and own forever.Or just pirate.
>>128113546>Artists can write their own bios. This isn't a bad thing. I'd rather read whatever the artist wanted to communicate than some AI bio.
>>128116583>>128117251Re: lossless, the problem is that distributors only delivered lossy audio to Spotify before now. So they have to do the work to redeliver the catalogue again in lossless now that it's finally available, so it will take some time.
>>128130248>So they have to do the work to redeliver the catalogue again in lossless now that it's finally availableWhich is probably why spotify held off for so long, but that ended up shooting themselves in the foot.I wonder how much it costs to get the entire fucking music catalog on spotify uploaded again but in a far more expensive, larger format to handle. This might make them go bankrupt, they're already teetering on the edge.
