just watched every recent kpop girl group MV that came out recently. if i missed anything, tell meHearts2Hearts-FOCUS: i was under the impression that STYLE was their most succesful song so far, but this seems like a course correction on SM's part. the visuals and styling and vocals all seem to be going back to their THE CHASE debut era, with the grayish, cold-toned imagery, liminal weirdcore concept and layered vocals so slow and monotone i doubt they could ever sing this live while dancing to the choreo. speaking of the choreo, they even added a "crop" again. I still prefer the chase, and on first listen style was also nicer, but its good enough and might be a grower. the choreo is very niceNMIXX:-SPINNIN ON IT: the visuals and MV are very typical nmixx, but more low energy and with more lesbian baiting. the composition is nice and so are the vocals. the chorus could be more exciting, but it fits the song well. the MV, although still creative, is somehow less creative than usual for NMIXX and the core analogy is awkward. i didnt notice any big mixxpop moment either. seems to be more for normies.-BLUE VALENTINE: again the cold and dark tones that are becoming typical of JYP MVs for some years now, and it continues the trend of the company dropping their old style of filming MVs at more artificial, theatrical looking sets. heavy CGI usage. nice vocals, but again, i think i prefer NMIXX's more high energy songs. the concept of this MV seems more artsy and high concept like you'd expect from them, but with more "american roadtrip moment" scenes, like the new fromis song. more mixxpoppy than spinning on it, but way less than usual for them. i think its a step down from SEE THAT, which did the mixxpop better than most of their other songs and marks a peak in their experimentationism. im always sad that the most popular NMIXX songs always end up being the least mixpoppy and most normiecore ones like LMLT and this one

but I think we can trust JYPE to go back to their roots next comeback, not letting commercial success kill their unique charmNIZIU-Emotion: exact same visual style as the NMIXX MV, very cold tones, lots of blues, several moments with low saturation. very different from early JYP MVs. i wonder what changed inside the company that they're consistently going for this style now. very happy and poppy (although less poppy than their best song, heartris). the vibes are reminiscent of early niziu, but still with several of the changes introduced since RISE UP, which was a huge change from their previous song. seems like they wont fall for the trap of always trying to be more and more of a "mature version of themselves" like twice did for a while. not as good as some of their best songs, but very nice and an improvement over their two last songs. the choreo and some moments of the MV are reminiscent of early twice, and with that, of early niziu as wellMEOVV-BURNING UP: nice song. not their best (thats clearly hands up), and a little bit slower than I expected from them, but nice. it continues their trend of, yes, acting like they're supermodels with a hiphop hobby, but with a bit of weirdness added in to make it stand up a little bit and make it more interesting. the outro was good now, and I usually dislike teddy's outros (maybe the dance break is what made it for me). all in all, kinda forgetable, but not bad. probably their 4th best song.
