Feel free to drop any recommendations below, no matter the subgenre (but please do attach subgenres to it!). I am in the long and intermittent process of compiling updated recommendation charts, so your contributions will be very appreciated. Its been too long since I've seen one of these up, what's the last live show you saw?
Most recently I got to see Jason Eady and Gabe Lee play in this real small venue, had a great time. They ended the show with King Of The Road which was not one I expected from modern performers but it was a hit with everyone to no surprise. I think LGA or someone on here pointed me toward Gabe Lee, he's a real good one.Pic is the cassette haul I got from my local secondhand, really lucked out with the Alan Jackson but I gotta find the art they used for it so I can print out my own sleeve to go in the box, my newest project for the collection
>>128180122Never heard of any in the alt category, I'll put a listen on em. That Pieces of The Sky album is still a hol grail I'm desperately after on cassetteThe new singles Colter Wall has been dropping have me buzzing for the actual album, shits got some funk to it
I'll be seeing Greensky later this year. Very much looking forward to it. I've heard nothing but good things about their prowess as a live act.
Good to have you back LGAnon! I don't wanna see this general die off.
Honky pasty ass crackers ;^)
>>128180162I'm a huge fan of Blitzen Trapper, not necessarily the best of those depicted but I grew up seeing them play showa early on
>>128180217I don't know if he's here, I'm the dude from Shenandoah thats lurked for a while. Usually I let him make the threads but its been a lot of radio silence and I've missed talking about my slack jawed honky tunes
I used to be one of the top contributors to this, but aiI've been a lot busier lately. It's reduced my postin' opportunities.

I got given this Linda Ronstadt cassette but only got one play out of it before it snapped. It was one I had been waiting to find for a while and since it was a gift I couldn't let it just go to waste so I cracked it open and successfully spliced it, its been on repeat on my truck stereo for the last 2 weeks nowLGA let us know if you're here, we miss you man>>128182803Whoever made this you're a saint, this is a great roadmap of country's develoment. Surprised you put Marty in with Folk country, he always seemed a lot more big band and ballad focused, especially with how often he bled over into being Not!Elvis>>128181042I'll check them out first, always grateful for recs

Should rockabilly be lumped in with country rock? Despite some of the contextual differences they're functionally the same thing.
>>128200587I'd certainly be fine with it. I cover some rockabilly among my more traditional country repetoire.
>>128200587There's this weird blending ground where the older something becomes, as long as its american, it just sort of gets labeled as country. See country-politan. The pop music of the 50s is what we consider country now, but I'm of the opinion its better to over-include as a genre rather than try to be hard nosed about what is and isn't "real" country
>>128179670>https://imgur.com/a/cmg-rINi8oKDoesn't work. Just links back to imgur home page
>>128205687Yeah LGA actually has the working links, I just have the old pastepin saved so I used that just so we could have the thread up. I wish he'd come around so I can get the updated ones where he's keeping all the charts
