>>128200733Behringer XM8500 is a Shure SM58 clone. I would try that one out, and maybe buy a Shure if you get really serious about touring. I’ve never owned one myself, but I’ve rented one from Guitar Center and most venues we played had one on stage so I’ve used them plenty of times. It’s a pretty generic house mic that a lot of venues have on hand. We played about a few shows and released a demo about ten years ago but I’m not posting it here. I have a professional job now and I don’t want it gaining the wrong kind of attention.

>>128201087I have an AT2035, which is very similar I think, but it depends on what you’re trying to record. We were a metal band, so I wanted it to sound as nasty as possible. SM58s can take a beating on stage, that’s for sure. My biggest piece of advice for recording vocals is try different things. For metal (or anything remotely aggressive) don’t record line-in, straight into your computer. It sounds too clean. Get the sound you want from your amplifier and mic the amp instead. It’s much louder and crunchier. Same for instruments.

So it's usually a good choice for live sets, because it's sturdy and its frequency response is quite close to the median57 has no foam out of the box and can be used with instruments too, but the internals are the same as in 58. And you could add your own pop filter on top and use it for vox too

The best way I can describe it is that you’re trying to capture the sound, not your voice if that makes sense. Get the sound you want out of the amp (or as close as you can get) and then try to record that, instead of recording yourself directly and adding the effects later. You want the mic near the center of the speaker, and a few inches back. You’ll have to play around with it, but it sounds much better than recording direct in.
