>>128220138not saying its not sincere but it just keeps on only-barely working and its buried under a way too fucking loud mix. it does sound like john had fun writing the songs (which is kind of the problem with him, he likes having fun with music too much. alas we are never getting anything like those early solo albums) but its a sound that the band has no business being around.i think it might be some weird contrarianism speaking but the band was better with josh, somehow they manged that 70s/80s retro and indie sound better on the getaway (previous album to lesser degree) than at any point they worked with john. that being said its sill dragged down by being red hot chili peppers being what they are. and then john rejoined and they made stadium arcadium sonic mush again after getting close to a good sound (for some reason scaruffi gave it fucking 6/10 from what i remember, as much as he gave bssm which boggles the mind).

This piece of let's-slow-things-down-a-little isn't too bad unless you prefer thee funk, but it's definitely a turn or two slacker than Californication. Problem is it's not enough to suddenly get all mature and start making like mysticks, you're also supposed to say something about maturity. And unless I'm mistaken, Anthony Kiedis has never had one thing to say about anything else. B-

You take that and double it and you add 1 if you enjoyed it, except for 5s which are just nearly perfect. So a 6 from him means it’s not bad, it’s enjoyable, if you’re a fan of the band or genre you will like it
