Post Japanese bands/artists that were huge in Japan but never gained the same level of fame in the west.

>>128215763> every huge musical act from Japan. Ever. 'cept Babymetal, AG, Ado, and Yoasobi.
>>128218207You forgot X-Japan
>>128218207All these bands have world tours and line up huge festivals. If your post was ironic, i didn't get it.

shonen knife and melt banana are the opposite
>>128215763>but never gained the same level of fame in the westThat would be every successful artists in Japan ever.I get what you actually meant, but still, the opposite is true most of the time and the few Japanese artists that "internet famous" in the west are more often than not relatively unknown in their own country, or just happen to be attached to a popular anime/videogame/tiktok-meme.Anyway, Kome Kome Club have always been great fun live, but their last big hit was Abracadabra in 1994, it's not exactly a mystery why they aren't popular here.
Yua Mikami. Despite his Western fanbase always swelling up and getting rock-hard with devotion, he never quite managed to come out on top in the big leagues here.SAD!

>>128218207This. With a few exceptions, Japanese bands big in Japan don’t do well at all globally, except maybe in a few Asian countries. Japanese bands with followings overseas generally aren’t at all popular in their own country.
>>128215763Dir en Grey.Super underrated band, they deserve more recognition in the west.
