>On April 21, 2001, Buck was aboard a transatlantic flight (British Airways #48) from Seattle to London to play a concert at Trafalgar Square. Witnesses alleged that Buck exhibited various bizarre behaviors on the flight, including shoving a compact disc into a drinks trolley thinking it was a CD player, tearing up the "yellow card" warning notice handed to him by the flight crew, claiming "I am R.E.M." and being involved in a struggle over a yogurt cup with two flight attendants, which resulted in the cup exploding.
>>128222899cocaine and alcohol are a powerful brew
>>128222948>At the ensuing trial in London, Buck's defense claimed that the moderate amount of wine he had drunk had reacted adversely with the brand of sleeping pill he was taking and rendered him unable to control his actions. The prosecution argued that he was simply intoxicated from supposedly consuming 15 glasses of wine. After the trial, which included testimony from Bono, the lead singer of the Irish rock band U2, Buck was cleared on the grounds of non-insane automatism.[27][28]

>>128222470REM has at least 30-40 great songs
Listening to their discography in order is a painful experience.Chronic Town is 10/10 and possibly the best EP ever made.Murmur is shy of being another 10. It's like a 9.5. The key change at the end of Shaking Through is cheesy as fuck and single handedly stops it from being a 10. West of the Fields is also filler.Reckoning is very good, but the first signs of serious quality slippage. It's like an 8/10.Fables has some serious high points (Driver 8, Green Grow the Rushes) but again it's another step down in quality. 7/10.Lifes Rich Pageant is their jump the shark moment. The production screams "We want to be mainstream" and they abandon all the things that made their music unique and interesting. They also traded in their abstract lyrics for big political issues which is also cringe.Everything post 1986 is complete dogshit.
>>128224949>not liking Document and Automatic for the PeopleOK retard
>>128225028Document is rock that doesn't rock. It's like rock if aliens made it.Automatic is garbage. Everybody Hurts is one of the worst songs ever made.
>>128222470Over the summer I saw Michael Shannon perform a bunch of R.E.M. covers then a few days later at the same club saw Peter Buck play a bunch of weird indie songs with Luke Haines. It was a great time.
