>Cultosaurus Erectus is the seventh album by American hard rock group Blue Oyster Cult, released on CBS Records June 16, 1980. The band returned to heavy rock after the pop rock experiment of Mirrors and was produced by veteran British producer Martin Birch. The cover art features a part of the sci-fi painting "Behemoth's World" by British artist Richard Clifton-Dey. The group was still a big touring act at this time and able to fill arenas although Cultosaurus Erectus only made #34 on the US Billboard chart, still an improvement on its predecessor's performance. It reached #12 on the UK albums chart.

Wish they would have swapped the first two tracks, the opener is some lame wannabe New Wave shit that doesn't work or "fit" the band at all.
>>
I've seen this album in flea markets before so I guess it sold pretty well actually it's the only BOC album I've seen in flea markets.

the dig at Islamofascism in "Divine Wind", written in the aftermath of the Iranian Revolution, is kind of interesting. they never really played it live much but apparently did once or twice in the early 00s for understandable reasons.

best song in the album, shame they made it political

BOC were a pretty huge touring act by the late 70s, playing arenas and lots of FM play at a time when hard rock was king and listened to by practically every white person under 30. They did of course lose it a bit in the 80s, times and tastes changing and weaker albums so they didn't really stay in the news or attract fans outside xoomers who were there back in the day nor were any of the band members especially compelling "rock star" figures.

yeah they were just kind of goofy nerds who like comic books and aren't exactly Jagger or Morrison

If you see more used copies for sale, that usually means the market got oversaturated with a product no one wanted.

Monsters is cool but they never did it live, possibly because the saxophone part would be a problem/require additional musicians.

a song like "Godzilla" is really what this band was about, i don't want to hear them doing New Wave
>>
the debut album had some pants production, very fuzzy sounding
