This guy put out so much gold. But you never hear anyone talk about him outside of the UK. Why couldn't he make it big in his home country?
idk but I prefer 3 to 4 (aside from its raining today)
>>1282250324 to 3* I mean
>>128224981his voice is goofy
>>128225040respectable>>128225046It's kinda schmaltzy at times but I think it really works with the music. Something about it just pops.
>>128224981>Why couldn't he make it big in his home country? He listened to a lot of stuff only Europeans enjoyed, and when that started shining through as his influences, yanks slowly lost interest.
>>128224981His taste was too european and cerebral. Also he was saddled with some pretty horrendous US distribution that didn’t know how to sell him.
He didn’t want to be big so wasnt
I think he got the last laugh by being Bowie's (one of the biggest artists ever) biggest inspiration. Listen to Station To Station and Black Star, those albums are totally Scott inspired.
>>128225958He also recorded covers of Nite Flights Brel’s Amsterdam (based on Scott’s version)
>>128224981The Sinatra/crooner style of singing coded him here as old-fashioned, no matter how interesting the music of his early solo records could be. And everything from the late 70s on (excepting Climate of Hunter, which for younger audiences would sound too much like adult contemporary), while deeply loved by a Bowie, is more experimental than most people in the US could stand.
>>128226516climate of hunter > scott 4
It’s like how proper Italian style woodfire pizza is objectively superior to American style franchise pizza but more people just prefer the non traditional stuff
always been a weirdly nostalgic artist for me since my sister put Sings Jacques Brel on my mp3 player as a kid. Probably shouldn't have been listening to 'Next' as a 10 year old but oh well
Kino run of albums...
He did some cool stuff with Trent.
americans are fat retards addicted to slop, simple as
