The obsession with playlists ruins the casual listening experience.
Your passive music enjoyer doesn't know what to put on a playlist, and doesn't necessarily care to build one. Just play the next damn song in the same genre.
Even radio style streams are actually just playlists in disguise. So you get to the end of a playlist and it repeats.

Audio listening apps are all bothersome to navigate, because they're all designed around compiling your music into various lists. When I open an app, it's because I wanted to listen to a specific song or album. Not navigate my whole collection of music and assemble them into lists like an autist.

When I click out and then back in, I want to be returned to the last song I was playing, Not to my collection.
