they sound heavy in mono

Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Pepper sound 100x better in mono than stereo. These are their best albums and are borderline unlistenable in stereo.

White album is a mixed bag. Stereo is the definitive version because some of the songs don’t have real mono mixes and are just stereo fold-downs, plus Helter Skelter is missing the last couple minutes in the mono version and Don’t Pass Me By is sped up for no reason and makes Ringo sound like a chipmunk. But there are some songs on there that do sound better in mono.

Beatles for Sale is the only one where the 2009 stereo mix blows the others away. For everything else, both mixes are fine. I don’t fuck with any of the new Giles Martin remixes though. That’s some revisionist bullshit.
