We all know the 2010s were the lowest music got. But what would you say was the second worst era?1946-54>big band is kill>going from turbo-boring croonerslop to terribly cheesy housewife pop>the great age of jazz LPs doesn't start until nearly the end of this period1988-90>interim before grunge breaks when cheesy fads like funk metal and short-lived dance and teen idol acts dominate, and horrible AC slop like "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Right Here Waiting" are top 5 hits.2002-08>absolute peak Weimar degeneracy when slutpop and bling rap are at their peak, rock is basically reduced to Nickelback, mallgoth, and some buttmetal bands
at the end of the 50s and early 60s when the 50s rockers were either dead or in prison, elvis joined the army. People thought rock was dead and guitar music was out. Pop music became brill building pop slop and motown girl groups. Then the beatles fell out of the sky
>1988-90if all you care about is popslop and different flavours of rock being rehashed over and over again, maybebut 88-90 saw the massive rise of acid house and early rave, the diversification of techno and birth of breakbeat hardcore, it was one of the most intensively innovative periods ever for electronic music

ok
>>128239012accurate as fuck lol.i wanted to dispute the 2002-08 one because i thought i remembered some good stuff but i went and looked at some top 40 type charts and wew, yeah that shit sucked. there can't more than a handful of decent songs from that entire stretch.>>128239144also a great time for jazz.
>50'sskippable for rock>60'sgood for rock>70'srock has peaked>80'srock still has something to say>90'sbad for rock>00'ssad for rock>10'srock is dead
>>1282400611910 musice invented
>1946: Music is invented
>>128240032The only stuff that was semi notable came from long time veterans like Weezer, RHCP etc who were around since before the nu metal era.
>>128240075false. rock's earliest beginnings are 1940's at best
>>128239012i listened to a 1944 playlist once and it was quite eye opening how many of those singers completely fell off the wagon in the 50s, only Ella and Sinatra didn't degenerate into slop. The material, vocals, and arrangements were leagues above anything they were doing by 1953.
I don't think much of the early to mid 70s. You had people like Stevie Wonder and Elton John putting out good tunes, but there was also way too much boring garbage from artists like Tony Orlando, Captain and Tenille, Helen Reddy, and others. At least disco made music a little more interesting when it came around.
>>128240257if you ignored all the rock and other stuff and listen to only top 40 of course it would be bad, but then again you'd have to have holes drilled in your head if all you listen to is top 40.
