>>128241420>serious question are all/any of them actually christian? There's a star of david in the corner of the album cover you posted, they're clearly Jewish
>>128241420I can’t speak to their actual beliefs but I think some people really overstate the sincerity of this album.
>>128241420>>128241489the cover and religious stuff are complete gen x piss takes, some people are actually retarded enough to believe it. also the singer is a fucking weirdo and his instagram makes you realize he's just an aging hipster
>>128241420Josh T. Pearson's dad was a hardcore southern pentacostal, like the kind that traveled in tents and did snakebite healings. seems this was rough on the rest of the family and pearson left christianity for a while, but as evidenced by this album he returned to a kind of christian spirituality later in life.I personally could never really get into his solo stuff (which is boring imo), but there is something genuinely special about the Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads.
>Pearson was raised in the church, his father a Pentecostal preacher. "They get wild and crazy," is how he explains Pentecostalism. Religion has stayed with him. "It's a blessing and a curse. I'm a believer. The Christian traditions of love thy neighbour, do good unto others, love God with all your heart … they're wonderful things
>>128241540>>128241489The concept of God coming down to a rock band and asking them to take over the world to the promise land sounds like a piss take towards Christianity, however the way the music presents itself is far from mockery
