any alan parsons fans? What is your favorite song/album? I'm leaning towards turn of a friendly card, but there are so many good tunes. They dont make music like this anymore.
I know this is pleb, but their best song is Time
hell yeah, this is on my top 10 albums I ever listened and Im not even THAT much of a fan. I just rate this album specifically very highly, prog rock can hardly be any better.
>>128248648I like them. I like wouldnt want to be like you, games people play in the middle of the night
>>128248664yeah time is pretty good. Kinda gets annoying to listen to over and over again, but its definitely a masterpiece.I kinda think eye in the sky is their best work. Sirius is such a sweet intro - so sweet the chicago bulls used it as entrance music and nobody batted an eye - but eye in the sky has like the best lyrics of all time. That song is a masterwork in religion/ethics, and how stupid/transparent most people are.Cant get enough alan.
>>128249121i wouldnt' wanna be like you was the first song I liked. heard it on pandora and was like "wtf is this?!"Especially the part exactly at 2 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOwFVowEugQI heard that riff and was like holy shit this is amazing - sounds like pink floyd - lol.
>>128249111what is some other prog rock you like, or really anything that is reminiscent of the production value of APP?I wouldn't call ELO prog rock - but albums like a new world record are incredibly well produced - total symphonies of sound.
parsons is a hack and woolfson (rip) did all the heavy lifting
>>128249171album-wise, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, Rush's Moving Pictures, Camel's Mirage, Genesis' Selling England by the Pound, King Crimson's Red are some of my golden picks.I like ELO too, Out of the Blue is a masterpiece despite its length, but I think they are considered prog pop just like Supertramp (another superb band)now Queensryche, which is prog metal, I am actually a huge fan and has been on my repeat for years already.
https://youtu.be/JLvFbBR4XOg?si=rPOLHJy2O1Sv3dDMI like this track even though the message of the music vid feels kinda simpy
>>128249809Rush sucks
>>128248648I think Card is my favorite as well, followed by Tales of Mystery and Imagination which I'll always have a soft spot for. The first half is brilliant but the enormous five hour long House of Usher song that comprises the second half kind of devalues the whole thing. Then again, I'm not a massive proghead by any means. It's just that Alan Parsons and Jethro Tull are the bands that both me and my parents like, so I have love for them for emotional reasons. Maybe someone more sophisticated would like the long ass Usher but. I dunno.
