>>128278526thanks buddy
>>128276195>too bigis it the bull fiddle?? you can still play trad tunes on it!
how the fuck do i learn violin. the intonation is hard as fuck and holding it just makes my collarbone sore
>>128281837try holding it against your chest or in the crook of your left arm, its more comfy that way.
>>128281837>the intonation is hard as fuckthe way i figured this out is to play more than one string at a time droning on an upper or lower string because it puts into clear focus whether youre playing a note in tune or not in reference to the drone note. fiddle also isnt about being meticulously precise though, if the notes a little off that slight tension is what gives the tune some motion/energy
>>128284126i do that but it's still very hard. i guess it takes time but violin has a much higher barrier of entry than a guitar or piano so to speak. it's very easy to get discouraged so it can be months between periods where i regularly try to practice. these are the tunes i am trying to learn, but just the basic melody, as simplified as i can make themhttps://youtu.be/aJ66Owun0BM?si=almxPZNydqXmgXehhttps://youtu.be/A1SFjLOr4QE?si=OXTrs8XLGvLwJrZqhttps://youtu.be/zD4YwfwSG48?si=1D4qIwYWud6_NkSchttps://youtu.be/uUw7lzPAea4?si=sodESdmpP0u62ceE
>>128285717i get ya, it is way more steep a learning curve. another trick that you may also already know is to hum the tune and know it inside and out before even touching the instrument. learning swedish fiddle is setting the bar extremely high though lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skOJ6vGEFXs
>>128287034well i am swedish, of course i want to learn the songs of my people. also western swing but that's like years in the future. one thing at a time
>>128287120nice, well if you fail you could try pivoting to the enradigt durspel or munspel ;)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvKpGNnsd5w
>>128287933är du också svensk? har aldrig stött på en svensk på /mu/
>>128288090haha sorry to get your hopes up bro im way off on the other side of the world in canada. just have a deep appreciation for the fiddle traditions of the old world and the various threads that run through my own countries traditions. the pacific northwest in particular had many immigrants from sweden and norway so their styles of music are part of the patchwork
>>128290265and the accordion and harmonica for that matteri should say, possibly even moreso than fiddle given the later era immigration to the western states/provinces here
