[Q]: Hello Bob, I'm curious what your thoughts on Sinatra were. You've called him the greatest singer of the 20th century but from reading Consumer Guide I don't get much if any clear picture on what you think of his music.[A]: I've called Sinatra the greatest singer of the 20th century but the greatest singer and the greatest artist aren't the same thing. I've somehow never found myself moved by his display of male vulnerability as mastery. I suppose I like him best when he's paired with Nelson Riddle, one of the few classic pop arrangers I actively admire. Beyond that I don't connect and probably never will, although my wife does enjoy the "old man" trilogy of Trilogy, She Shot Me Down, and L.A. Is My Lady, and about once a year I find myself pulling out and listening to a Sinatra album I'd forgotten about completely.
>practically flipped out at Strangers in the Night because he thought it was about an encounter between two gay men
>>128278441too threateningly masculine for him i guess
>Sammy Davis Jr. among other things collected vintage erotica as a hobby. One of the prized items in his collection was a pornographic movie from 1934 titled "The Masked Bandit", starring an 18 year old Frank Sinatra who had agreed to appear in the film as it was during the Depression and he was literally starving. Davis enjoyed playing the film for party guests--although Sinatra was wearing a mask, it was obviously him. When he found out about this, he angrily confronted Davis and told him he'd never speak to him again unless he destroyed his copy of the film.
>>128278315he has the perfect voice to sing calypso
>>128278315Good in studio, shit live.
>>128278565That movie was hetero, right? Right?
>>128278315is no one going to mention that the image is edited?
he massively fell off as the 40s gave way to the 50s because his sadboi ballad w/ strings sound had become so normalized in pop that he completely lost his uniqueness. it was a long road back when he found out how to retool himself for the new decade.
It Was A Very Good Year is one of the best songs ever
Sinatra Jobim is a good album. https://youtu.be/6GFsiFQuUFo
>>128279779Was about to post this, His 70s stuff is underratedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efqoWyELgm8
>>128278441idk who that blue shirt guy is, but i keep seeing you nerds post him. all i can tell you is that i could EASILY shove him to the ground and rape him. look how old and frail he is. what's he gonna do? cry? that'll only make my dick harder. he can rate the rape as low as he wants, but it still won't de-goo his butthole.
I used to think he was a relic that influenced no one, crooners were dead unless you are some old lady who like michel buble. But then i realized his voice style probably influenced bands like the doors and joy division
>>128280236>I used to think he was a relic that influenced no one, crooners were dead unless you are some old lady who like michel buble. He influenced them all, the rest of crooners were just cheap imitators. When he started, also almost no one but himself and Dinah Shore were solo singers, everyone was attached to a big band.
>>128278315I think his overrated and Bob Dylan did his songs better.
