Say, hey!Hear the sound of the falling rainComing down like an Armageddon in flame (Hey!)The shameThe ones who died without a nameHear the dogs howling out of keyTo a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!)And bleed, the company lost the war todayI beg to dream and differ from the hollow liesThis is the dawning of the rest of our livesOn holidayHear the drum pounding out of timeAnother protester has crossed the line (Hey!)To find, the money's on the other sideCan I get another Amen? (Amen!)There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!)A gag, a plastic bag on a monumentI beg to dream and differ from the hollow liesThis is the dawning of the rest of our livesOn holiday
American Idiot and The Black Parade are the best pop punk albums imo

I GOT A ROCK AND ROLL HOUSEI GOT A ROCK AND ROLL CAR
This trash hit the market at a time when fast internet connections were not yet ubiquitous and TV still had people in its grasp. Some folks didn't even have computers, rare at that time, but there were some. At least that's how it was for me. I didn't get into pirating until some years after this because we literally didn't have hardware for it. I don't think youtube at that time quite yet had music the way it does now either, even if you had a halfway decent connection, although I could be wrong. Either way you underestimate the influence the climate at that time had on mainstream media consumption. TL:DR; early 2000s kind of sucked, much as I wish I could go back.Still better than what gets pumped out today though, my god. At least these albums had some decent songs, Jesus of Suburbia was legitimately good.
