How do you actually listen to music?I had Spotify for around 3 years and quite enjoyed the experience, especially learning about new bands and genres. Also the algorithm seems to work nicely. After raising their prices I wanted to try YouTube music, but I somehow feel it doesn't quite cut it. Maybe that's also an issue of me using it not nearly as long as Spotify. I rarely listen to CDs, except in my mom's (older) car. And I never owned vinyl, but I enjoyed it as a teenager quite a bit with the stereo of my father, browsing through his collection. As I am an oldfag, I had the privilege of being forced to listen to whole albums on my cassette player as a youngling. An experience which almost seems completely forgotten by today's listeners. On my PC at home I have a yamaha mixer and two monitors. I really dig the clean sound from them. They are older models, made by fostex. Looking forward to be hearing about your approaches. Maybe there are even more capable streaming services out there I haven't heard of yet

>>128306423On my computer, I use Foobar2000 and Musicbee to play different libraries of music that I have. I get FLAC stuff from Soulseek for most albums, though stuff like black metal and punk doesn't need it. I have a decent sized CD collection also that I use a USB DVD player to rip when desired.I stopped using my phone for music because the battery capacity has died in the ass, so I mostly use a small Sony Walkman DAP, or my iPod Classic 160GB (of which I got the battery replaced).
Emby on old crappy laptop serving 4TB of music from an external HDD. Music ripped from youtube or downloaded from squid.wtf

I usually spin a vinyl record or two after work, I started collecting around 2 years ago.I don't collect CDs anymore like I used to when I was younger. I'd usually just rip them digitally and never touch them again, but I still occasionally spin them when I'm borrowing my mom's car. I also own a few cassettes but I don't have a player for them.>at workSpotify. I'm leeching off my colleague's family account. Just queueing whatever I feel like listering to. I use the discover weekly playlist to check new bands & artists.

I used to be Spotify only, but started collecting physical media since maybe 1.5 year ago. Because I want to own the music myself. And have a nice collection to display and look at. Got around 100 vinyl records now and maybe 25 CDs.
local files, either ripped from CD, dl'd from slsk, rutracker or, years ago, whatcd. fuck streaming.in the daytime, its foobar2k on my desktop played via an offboard DAC into Ruark MR1s, which are small but decent active monitors. I work from home and listen to music during the day but my "office" is more like a cupboard and I dont have room for my actual hifi in therein the evening, I play the same files through the half of my hifi (amp and speakers, NVA and Focal) which I set up in the living room last year after having been in boxes for some time. the other half (record and CD players), are still packed away along with the records and CDs, again for reasons of space and practicality.
I am forced to wear my Sony WH1000 XM3 for 6-8 hours every day at work. I mostly use Spotify and try to play an album I've not heard.
