Good God
>>128307063>>128319563>>128325436I've actually thought about this quite a bit, and "Freak on a Leash" is pretty easily the best song of this particular scene/genre. Not that it's necessarily the most "iconic", but just in terms of songwriting and composition, it's safely the best-in-class. Despite their attempts at being zany edgelords with cringe lyrics, I get literal goose-bumps singing along to "A CHEAP FUCK FOR ME TO LAY" and the way the guitar seemingly manipulates time and space when it leads up to the satanic scatting. I really thought I'd have to look back on my youth apologetically and just clown on these guys, but it's a literal 10/10 song."Chop Suey!" / "Toxicity", "Break Stuff", "In the End", "Duality", "Bring Me to Life", "Send the Pain Below" / "The Red" are the most iconic Nu-Metal songs, but there's quite a variance in quality there. I also wonder if "How You Remind Me" fits, as there's a pretty blurry line between post-grunge and Nu-metal.
>>128326174Every other song in this thread mogs Freak On a Leash. Sorry you had to type up a blog only to end up being wrong though.
>>128310376based
>>128326245I mean, I'd have it up there as far as best all time heavier, metal adjacent songs in general. But go off, I'm just a 35 year old boomer who lived thru this shit.
>>128326284Lived through it too and Limp has at least 5 songs heavier and more iconic than Korn's gay bullshit.
>>128326299>heavier>more iconicnot indicators of qualityKorn weren't really great torchbearers for Nu-Metal because they were weirder and edgier by nature than the most popular acts. That was my point. Just in terms of songwriting and sheer musicianship, acts like Limp Bizkit were way behind. But they had the iconic douchey frontman and the cocky sort of urban/hiphop sensibilities that became the ultimate formula for Nu-Metal as we now understand it.
>>128306683Nu - is that like "Nubian"?Is this about different literacy? Was that a reference to 'Shame on the "Nu" Who Tried to Run Game on the "Nu" ?'Definitely shameful
>>128326346Korn isn't indicative of quality either. What the fuck are you even on about? And everyone in Limp, aside from Fred, is an incredibly proficient musician. A hell of a lot more talented than the members of Korn. Fieldy has literally played the same bass line his entire career.
