Why the fuck every musician these days try to come off as wholesome tiny desk npr Nardwuar chungus with all smiles and flowers? That shit is gay. What happened to the mystique of unapproachable asshole but great musician?

> Nardwuar chungus
I don’t know what this means

I think it’s just easier to not have to deal with assholes, so that’s why assholes aren’t as prominent
>>
>>128319912
Because its the only way you'll get anywhere
>>
>>128320175
Plenty of rockstars were assholes. Listen to the interviews of Johnny Rotten
>>
>>128320456
I mean these days, not the fucking 1970s

times have changed
the asshole persona won't get you so far nowadays and people prefer seeing nice wholesome stuff
this might also be why rock and metal has disappeared from the mainstream
like, even the last great rock bands from the 2000s like MCR didn't really play an asshole persona
>>
>>128320488
Makes sense why music sucks today.
>>
>>128320456
People today with the personality for that go into being social media freaks these days, not musicians.
>>
The reason is "inclusion"
Nothing can be exclusionary
The most fragile pearl clutcher you know has the right to feel as cool/underground/counter-culture as anyone else if they so choose and so anywhere that isn't completely welcoming and deferential to that person is invaded and suffers forced regime change
>>
Also, currently cool people are captured by the same social media apps as the pearl clutchers and culture vultures, with their "community guidelines" and algorithmic slop torrents. Networks of communication have now been centralised, sanitised and globalised
>>
>>128319912
wholesome smiles and flowers is for the indie kids but currently the musicians with an asshole persona is rappers
>>
>>128320547
Welcome to hell
>>
>>128320594
Not really. Even rap is infantilized.

rock music still has those mikko aspa type edgelords too especially in the outskirts like RAC or NSBM

I don't know what gives you the idea that Swift is a nice or lovable person in any way.
>>
>>128320945
^This.

>wholesome chungus what
Maybe that would have applied to Doris Day in 1954 but...
>>

Geordie Greep (pic related) is keeping your dream alive bro. Totally unapproachable, arrogant but really great live

>>128320488
Implying we're not living through an extremely bad tempered, politically polarised time - it's become rebellious to be even keeled

millennials are so rustic lol. it's 2026, chud.

actors are processed and packaged by teams of people (who all profit).
musicians, the same.
they're all owned and controlled by the same people.

so, unless you're an real artist or poet, you're just a regular person who happens to be famous for the benefit of others

iow, you're a product
and there's no mystique in that
>>

>corny
carefully typed ebonics
>>
it's all fake niceness because Millenialz are low T fags
>>
>>128321214
This is part of it. The feminization of society, where is made to play by womens' made up social rules that prioritise politeness over truth and where everything is taken personally
>>
>>128321214
didn't i hear stories from early '10s about how Lady Gaga's tour bus/plane just had people drinking mineral water and eating bags of nuts instead of typical rock star shit?
>>
>>128321452
I don't remember, but I did recall Lemmy before he died saying how young people in music were too clean living and stuff.
>>
>>128319912
In the past, people only really knew rockstars from limited media and appearing on TV and seeing them on stage and at shows so there was more of an understanding that you were looking at an image and not just a random normie that played music
Ever since social media and algorithmic content has demanded you whore out every aspect of your life to your fans at all times, people don't look at well known musicians with a sense of unreality and a feeling that they're buying into an image anymore, so if you do anything rockstar-y they see it as just another normie being a dickhead and get personally upset by it.
>>
thats why I prefer people like Melvins, the Daughters while they were a thing at least had that atmosphere especially confirmed by the singer being some kind of abuser

He thinks James Chance in OP is Greep
