https://vocaroo.com/1jxBlanXrPFc>droney/stoner rock sounding riff I've been working onPlaying with the sounds from this opamp big muff pi. Also can someone tell me if I'm playing in a different time signature or something or am I just so retarded I can't play on the 1 of the drum
>>128326034Nods are tons of fun but man I could never dump that much money into them. I’d rather buy guitar stuff.
Oh by the way, Which one's Lizzy?
>>128326291>not pictured: nods
Guy at guitar center talked to me about basses. Going to look into a 2nd bass since fender arent made for metal and they would need to permanently edit the fender to make it useful for what I wanna play. Need advice an active bass that has nuts that handle thick gauges well. Any advice?
>>128326034this isnt the place to post your off-topic shit, Danny
>>128326447you can use any instrument for any genre. 90% of the sound is achieved by the amp. if you only want to use one bass i would consider ditching metal entirely unless the idea of never progressing as a musician after the initial 3 months appeals to you.
>>128326447>they would need to permanently edit the fender to make it useful for what I wanna playWhat are yoy trying to play?
>>128326528hes the C standard tuning guy
Anybody wanna add guitar?https://voca.ro/1eujgh1hMG2A
>>128326572Just buy any active bass and have the nut worked on, it will be less effort than finding a good specialized bass and probably less money too
>>128326642Yeah the guy also said get an active bass and that anyone would work but to also look into seeing if there's a brand thats popular with metal players.>>128326520Guy also mentioned certain amps were more tuned for metal music also. I had a feeling that fender wasnt the right brand for the heavier stuff and that was confirmed tonight. Not bad but just means I need to look into shit more.
>>128326673Ibanez makes some actives that are popular with metalheads
>>128326728The guy in the band i wanna copy has a pavey t 40. Was thinking of grabbing one of those. But a cheap active ibanez will probably be better
>>128326673Fender amps aren't metal amps but you could use a fender bass no problem, Newsted used a jazz bass, Harris used a P bass, etc. If you really want actives by all means get actives though.
>>128326807Watch this be broken car anon’s new guitar lmaoooo
>>128326807That Epiphone is over, it's done for
>>128326822I hope not, I want better for him
>>128326822
>>128326807Removing a bolt on neck is fairly standard procedure. Oh wait
>>128326673if I was you I would NOT buy a bass and buy a darkglass infinity combo 2x10 and keep playing your fender. the darkglass suite also has a step tuner pedal built in you could just transpose your bass into C through the amp
My Mustang has 10s on it but I normally set them up with 11s, and I’ve been putting off changing strings because I really don’t want to deal with the hassle that is setting up a Mustang and it’s vibrato unit. Once it’s set up for your string gauge it’s fine but I’ve been procrastinating and just need to do it
>>128326822That guy will keep browsing forever never settling down on any
>>128326806>Newsted used a jazz bass, Harris used a P bass, etc. If you really want actives by all means get actives though. Most chat pile songs are in drop A and i told the guy about this and he said that is better to get a 5 string or adjust the nut and something about the bolt i think. I had a hard time following some of the conversation when it got down the specific parts of the bass that would need to be changed for drop A and B to not sound muddy.>>128326950>buy a darkglass infinity combo 2x10 athis is the exact amp he told me about also kek. he mentioned that transposing feature also. That seems okay but its too expensive and id rather have my instrument tuned to what i want rather than editing it through an amp
>>128326950>transpose your bass into C through the ampNTA but how would it recognize which string is supposed to be tuned to what?
>>128327000ok well you received legitimate advice. good luck
Is it worth getting an empty single cab and putting a speaker of my choice in there (thinking hesu demon), and then down the line getting an empty 2x12 cab and putting it there with a mixed speaker (thinking neo creamback for fuller tone)? Kinda limited on budget atm and I'd rather spend more money on a better amp head now (thinking orange th30).
>>128327000https://youtu.be/DYA9pdLolbo give this a listen, I think the line6 shifter wasn't bad at all, it's more affordable than the darkglass one
>>128327015Just a pitch shifter the bass would need to be proportionally tuned
>>128327066Thanks. I believe I'll end up going with a different bass over anything else. I dont want anymore pedals or to have myself tied to a PC or amp for my main tone. Id rather just have a bass for that sound.>>128327111I would consider this if it wasnt stuck on the PC. I don't really want to lug around anything else.
>>128327438Look up some isolated metal bass before you commit to anything. it sounds awful on its own but it’s the only way to cut through a mix that muddy
>>128326286You're hitting the 1, but you're stretching the middle of the riff because straight 16ths are faster than your rhythm hand.
are those ~300$ dan armstrong clear acrylic bass knockoffs any good?
>>128327590>not woodthere's a reason why we always use wood
I'm only playing with a pick the rest of the year. I think it'll help me have an aggressive tone
>>128326034YwnhhcFigured out I could preorder the stadium xl from sweetwater without actually paying for it until it ships. The estimated ship date for orders placed right now is first week of dec. So I just need to make 2300 dollars door dashing between now and then. It’s possible. Picking up my lp studio tomorrow morning (hopefully)
>>128327639you have other options but ok
>>128327614cause it's cheap and easy to work with?
>>128326973That’s not true I’m buying the black lp studio for 800 tomorrow if those funds come back on my account. He’s holding it for me. I was listening to some early 2000s rock today and it got me pumped for a studio. I think it’ll be a good second guitar regardless of what I make my main guitar in the future. Saving for a stadium xl again now.
>>128327723idk you have to be careful not to scuff or crack the acrylic cause then no one will buy it personally I’d rather work with wood
>>128327723same
>>128327693I'm open to all options I just think it'd be a good way to learn how to use a pick. I feel like a retard whenever I pick one up
proper gauge strings for your axe:acoustic: 12'selectric: 9's
>>128327723No because it’s resonant, lightweight, strong and lends itself to a good sound. Acrylic guitars are heavy as shit and fragile.
Cellulose warming up
>>128327768Uh no sweaty string gauge depends on your scale length, personal preference, and style of playing.
>>128327768acoustic: 13selectric: 13s
Wish I could go back in time and by pic rel.
>>128327871BOOORRRIINNNGGGG
Sunburst puts me to sleep, where's olympic white
>>128327755that would be a good way to learn pick. pick will add lots of mids and more decay imo. if you’re the metal guy worried about his bass getting buried in the mix you can lower your action and use the treble from the string noise to your advantage. I think damn near all the finger style metal bassists are doing that. you lose the feel of bottom end when you just keep stacking drive
>>128327933if you don’t like color just skip the middle man and don’t even get a guitar
Olympic white vs vintage white?
>>128327906What's the deal with gear poster? Sure... Sure... They enjoy looking up potential buys. Who doesn't? But they share what they are looking up! Yes, I'm serious! They do this all the time... It's like enjoying a chapter of a book and posting a screenshots of the pages. Reposting the daily farm report on nextdoor.com just for redundancy. Now I'm a pretty dull guy. But these people are driven to a frenzy watching paint dry. How dull can someone get? Am I wrong?
>>128327933Olympic white is nice
>>128327941>f you’re the metal guy worried about his bass getting buried in the mixyes that is me. the guy who I am trying to copy said in an interview he gets more attack with a pick so thats better for his sound. another bassist i like had a comment like that in a book i read. I have also run into my fingers getting tired after 15-20 minutes of playing.>you lose the feel of bottom end when you just keep stacking drivei also noticed this when i jam by myself. ive been testing out combinations with my pedals and i usually dont have the drive up too high on any of them when playing.
>>128328030it just is what it is unless you can split the signal between two different cabs. you still have the same level of lows but because everything else is coming up it just feels less pronounced. good luck man I hope you enjoy playing your bass. I think you’ve got it figured out
>>128328021Your not wrong, Jerry. You're just an asshole.

Why can't Europe make great guitars? Is it because your good dudes like Martin, Gibson, Adolph Rickenbacker came over HERE to be great? Why of all places in the world is Japan the only other country that has real guitar brands? They're not even white
>>128328046thanks ill keep up what im doing then. appreciate the help
Wish I could go back in time and buy pic rel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X5iDKPrZH0Trying to learn the chord progression by ear. I can do it pretty easy when it's just an acoustic playing, but an arrangement is harder to think of as chords. Seems a lot of minor seventh chords. Trying to incorporate the vocal harmonies into the guitar as well.

I literally do not want a guitar with a poly finish. After getting my Les Paul, I only want nitro guitarsI have to USA Fenders with poly and I am seriously considering getting them refinished in nitro
I thought the highway 1s were nitro MIA and lots of people hated them.
>>128328910welcome aboard son. everyone converts to nitro when they own their first
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8RxiZqcja8
>youtuber shit
For me, it's tung oil
>>128328936there were 2 generations of 'highway ones' the first gen was poly finish and pretty well regardedthe second gen was poly with a thin layer of nitro on top. not as well regarded because the pickups were cheap and dull sounding and they used big ass jumbo fretsi have the second gen 'thin skin' one. actually like that it has fat frets but the bridge pickup had no treble so I changed it
>>128328967I love worn vintage guitars. I don't hate relics, but wouldn't buy one myself, I prefer them to age naturally But poly doesn't age, it just looks shitty and beat up My Tele is over 10 years old but my Les Paul that's 3 years old looks more aged and worn, in a good way
dudes on here be talking about guitars like women talking about their nail polish
>>128329234no one cares
>>128329211same. I want my guitar to age with me. it’s not even a new concept, people have been drawn to play wear since the old violin days. say they can’t have soul without it
>thinking the conductor would let you play with a shitty ass scratched up violin
>>128329208what are the jumbies like?
>>128328202maybe the reason is japan has always been really into electric guitar the way the US used to be
>>128329208also why would they use both finishes? It seems like a waste of time and effort to spray one then have to switch over and then hope they bond together.
>poly doesn't age, it just looks shitty and beat upuhhhhh hon, that's what aging is
>>128329305poly acts as a pore fill but also keeps you from wearing away to the bare wood and sanding sealer. bare wood turns nasty dark grey. I don’t mind it especially if it’s a different color poly base coat like Daphne blue wearing into white
>>128329293stradivari didn’t use poly
>>128329316so it's like nitro > paint > poly/sealer > wood?Sounds needlessly complicated and whatever the result is would probably look very fake
>>128329316it's not a fence.
Fender Jazz BassFender Precision BassEarnie Ball Stingray99% bassists use one of these, why are there no other good bass guitar models?
>>128329337exactly. Add a bunch of layers and sanding steps. Tool prep and air regulatingSpray and buff to auto finish with that kind of effort.
>>128329353good in what metric?
>>128329371no, imperial system
>>128327755Deciding to use a pick is definitely a good way to learn how to use a pick
pickers can't be choosers
>>128329234it's been a while since I've been a pain in the ass on /fa/. I feel too fat to post there tho maybe when I get below 160 again
>>128328236Cannot believe gisbon really made these.
>>128328245This has some nice ambience to it. Feels like I'm in an old diner somewhere
>>128329435The one time they tried to innovate they fell flat on their face and everyone made fun of them for it
>>128329337Gibson uses sanding sealer on their back and sides that’s why they’re red/brown instead of natural mahogany color. the tint is in the nitro so it’s stain or stainless pore/sanding sealer > poly flash coat > nitro.>>128329338what does that even mean? It would take like 30 coats of nitro to fill pores
what's it like having one of these vibrato systems without the little locking switch in the middle?
...
>>128329493Don't likd it, the lock is a pretty important upgrade imo. Makes tuning and trem usage way better + it gives you some extra security over a floating strat trem.
>>128329315Nitro looks great when it's old and the finish is checked and worn Poly just breaks off in chunks and has ugly scratches. That's all
>>128329295I love them. Can't go back I have a Am Special and an Am Performer which are both continuations of the Highway One line and they have jumbos
>>128329353if a p bass had a music man pickup in the bridge there would be no need for the stingray or the jazz bass
>>128329653...so do Ihmm
>>128329493imo this is the best looking jag on the market currently.shame femder doesn't do a non-squier jag with a dark fretboard and block inlays.if I HAD to get a jag I'd just get one of these and buy a fender trem (they're like $50)

Anyone have an ocean machine 2? Trying to find some nice reverb+delay multifx to run in my fx loop. Looks more appealing than the zoom ms-70cdr+, but does it compare? I just want more knobs instead of the cramped UI the zoom has going on.

>>128329929solid toan
>>128327768proper gauge strings for your axe:acoustic: depends on tuning and how much tension you wantelectric: depends on tuning and how much tension you wanthaving said that, certain gauges of string will always produce an inherent kind of sound that can't be altered by tension or tuning. i think the high E on a set of 9s is too anemic for all applications even at 25.5 inch scale so i've moved to 9.5 on fender scales and kept 10s on the gibson scales. 10 and 11 still work for each scale length in E standard respectively but you start to lose treble and transients the tighter the strings get and i don't like that.
>>128328202Europe does make good guitars they just don't have the same brand recognition as the American brands. Plus the American guitars have all already established themselves, are classic, traditional, etc. All the good ideas have already been done. Europe and Japan have better guitar players than America though and Europe has better amplification.
>>128329893Based. They're basically the same guitar just different pickups but it's my favorite guitar platform
>>128329643Nah nigga it doesn't, finish checking looks fucking horrendous. All aged guitars look like shit, nitro actually bothers me because you relic the guitar whether you want to or not any time you so much as put your hands on it. I'm fine with a guitar picking up wear and tear from honest use and not abuse but there's almost no difference between a beaten up piece of shit finished in poly and a beaten up piece of shit finished in nitro, both look fucked up. Just take care of your gear. Why are people even discussing how best to gouge chunks out of their finish and in what situation this would look best. Retards.
