That was one of my least favorite albums of his. As far as Flo and Eddie goes, I like Just Another Band From LA. 1972 was really just a stellar year for him. I love disc 2 of YCDTOSA Vol.5, it's got the 1982 band playing their asses off. The Roxy era stuff is great but the Roxy album itself is pretty boring and shitty.

lol isnt that one considered one of his weakest
certainly the least good from his jazz fusion period
was nice hearing the title track when i watched Happy Together tho

A Gypsy mutant industrial vacuum cleaner dances about a mysterious night time camp fire. Festoons. Dozens of imported castanets, clutched by the horrible suction of its heavy duty hose, waving with marginal erotic abandon in the midnight autumn air.

chunga's revenge is ok but it's one of the album's frank just shat out with very little thought, it's flo and eddie era but they're barely on it too (for better or worse). i wish OP were here to elaborate

waka/jawaka and sleep dirt were both in the running for hot rats pt 2/3. for what it's worth, waka/jawaka is really fucking good and is one of his most underappreciated albums, though i don't mind him dropping the hot rats connection

I was under the impression Waka/Jawaka was one of his most liked albums

Zappa definitely doesn’t suck. I don’t know why the hate, some discord raid or other, bunch of pussies
>>
>>128331012
it's liked, but i don't see anyone mention it first in zappa discussion. among his completely jazzy instrumental albums, i feel hot rats/grand wazoo kind of overshadow it. not that they're bad albums at all, but waka has a really cool vibe that's unique to it.
