>>128339413Based emoenthusiast. What are your thoughts on Orchid?
>>128339520NTA but kinda overrated.
>>128339520Great, but like anon said, kinda overrated. I think their best release for sure is Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow!, but there are a handful of emoviolence bands which I think mog them slightly (or heavily, in the case of Jeromes Dream).I think Orchid's problem is that their music is really samey after Chaos Is Me, and that causes the AC/DC "heard one song, heard every song" in them, while Jeromes Dream, Love Lost but Not Forgotten, The Spirit of Versailles, etc. have way more variety in their songwriting than Orchid. I give them a 4/5 as a band, overall.
>>128339597Do you like Nuvolascura?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1HnlQLx-fw
>>128339627Again NTA but their latest album is absolutely amazing.
>>128339627Never listened to them, but my brother is a big fan.
>>128339653Based. They're my favorite emoviolence band right now. Really hope I get to see them live.
>>128339226snowing by far
>>128339226Lync
>>128339413Pretty based list. Can't believe Thursday isn't here though.
>>128340573Thursday is my pick for 2000s
>>128340580Based. They're one of the most important bands of that time. Literally never made a bad album. I'd find a way to work Thrice in there somewhere too.
>>128340573They are great, but I prefer other bands in the sounds that they explore. I also think You and I are kinda like a better Thursday, desu.
>>128340610My favorite by them is The Illusion of Safety, but I think they are a little below Lifetime for me in the melodic hardcore / emo fusion genre.
>>128340657I like You and I a lot. Good shit. Actually found out about them from Thursday kek.
>>128340670Yeah, I also found them from Thursday over a decade ago. I think 143 (JCM) is pretty much the blueprint for 00s pop screamo a la Thursday.
There's nothing more emo than Apthy Is a Cold Body by Poison The Well. I don't think you need to listen to any other emo bands or songs ever again once you heart that.Shout out to Sunny Day Real Estate though.
>>128340668The Illusion of Safety is s god tier album. I love all of their stuff but that was my intro and I will always have a soft spot for it. Dustin has one of the best voices in emo/post-hardcore/whatever you wanna call it. Such a good fucking band>>128340693Geoff has directed me to a lot of great shit over the years. Love that nigga. Glad he's off heroin and still alive and thriving.
>>128340727Huh? I also got my start in emo / hardcore / whatever from The Illusion of Safety back in the day. That's interesting.I didn't know Geoff was into heroin. Yes, he always made cool references in their music / thank you list, including the song Ian Curtis from their first record. I actually think that's how I discovered Joy Division lmao
>>128340710Based Poison the Well appreciator >>128340739The Waiting CD booklet! Fucking same dude. Thursday was life changing shit for me. I was shocked too. He doesn't seem like the type at all. He wrote a book and it's really great. He covers a lot of that stuff. If you can find a copy I highly recommend it. Not a lot of musicians make that leap from lyrics to books well but Geoff nailed it.
